In short.. i found it harder and even less lucrative than before (even if money is not why you go to a CZ..).
Those elite wings are a pain in the butt, and io guess you need some rank before your weapons do anything. I blew up a few on dumb ships like Asps, but ended up dancing with a python for 30 minutes, using all my ammo, all my SCBs and having to bail out with him at 8% hull.

I guess i'll try them in 2 or 3 years when i'll have moved up one combat rank, at the current rate lol (yay for 1% rank increase in one hour..)

CZ have gotten a lot tougher since 3.3. A low CZ is pretty chill for a player running solo, but a medium can be VERY challenging solo and is a bit scrappy even for a wing of two commanders in engineered ships. Don't get me started on the challenges of a high CZ.

I used to do hogh CZ in solo and pretty much last as long as i had ammo without losing shields a single time.
Now i'll have to watch the fuck out and rethink my build (hull reinforcements are pretty much useless.. will replace with guardian shield reinf and add maybe a SCB).

Not complaining tho. i am only combat master, and it was maybe too easy before. I imagine Elite players would get bored in a CZ.

Even if i did lose my Krait in my last fight against one of those elite pythons, it was pretty intense, and quite a come back to combat after months of barely deploying hardpoints. As long as it's not cheap deaths, i am fine with it :)

Rank doesn't matter for those elites, they seem to be there to foster wing play, I have to basically pump half a corvettes worth of multi ammo into just one of them to get them down, and those are fully engineered multi's.

So for the time being unless you got at least two or more buddies with you, you might as well leave them be.

I bought myself a T9 and have been helping the Op Ida crew repair some stations.

Sad about the NPCs. I spent about 20 minutes working down a Deadly Python only to have it high wake away. Seems a lot if not most of the high rank NPCs do that now too.

The sad part for me is the people making the most noise for such changes never play with NPCs... and even with these changes they still will sing the same tune - because well they actually never play with NPCs. Sometimes I feel Fdev is losing the plot here.

Farming Aisling in PP for Prismatic Shield access. Been playing for 1000 hours and just NOW getting Prismatics.

Would like to start hunting Thargoids, but have been away for awhile and don't even know where to begin with the Guardian stuff.

I'm pretty new, so I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing in-game yet!

Actually I've been dabbling with different things to see what I like and try to find purpose in my Elite life, and so far I think I like exploring and scanning systems the best. I enjoy going system to system and seeing all there is to see, and playing late into the night and dozing off in my headset and accidentally drifting straight into a star... whoops... and I actually enjoy tuning my scanner to pick everything up! Trying to plot a course so I'm not so aimless now, but I might try and head to the Road to Riches since that looks like a nice start.

Also think I should have a new ship as my goal to work towards, but I don't know too many of the ships in the game yet. Currently in an adder, any further recommendations for exploration? Or should I just keep upgrading my adder's modules?

Greetings and welcome to Mobius, Commander BADSALAD
I'm an explorer myself, and hope to meet you in the Black one day.
Actually after wandering through the galaxy I'm about to arrive back in the bubble to tackle some unfinished business but will then soon hit out for the Black again.
Who knows we meet at the bar at Rafferty's Mobius in Azrael ;)

If you like Adder, keep upgrading modules. For exploration, my absolute favorite ship is Viper MKIV, but in general, Asp Explorer is considered one of the best for this. You can easily set your goal to buy and upgrade this ship in near future. If you really like exploration, I recommend buying and learning how to use Detailed Surface Scanner.

But you are aware, that it is possible to target modules, aren't you? Left panel, rightmost tab, there's even "target next/prev subsystem" keybinding.

Aim for FDS, once you get it to 0%, switch to PP and finish that sucker!

Yes I was targeting FSD and had it down below 20% when Python jumped, not sure if that is reasonable behavior either. My FSD starts acting up at 75%, can't imagine how it would act at 20%.

Anyway I can take out PP no problems but it doesn't have any profound effect on NPC other than triggering them to jump out. But damaging FSD takes three times (or more) as long for some reason. Not sure why FSD should be so much tougher. If they are both A-rated, PP should have 24 points more health.

Anyway alternating between chipping away at combat rank for a while then going back to hauling station repair supplies.

I like the Diamondback Explorer for a general purpose taxi, transport, light explorer but I also tried the Road to Riches route in a Hauler when I was starting out, which is an even more lightweight/economical taxi, transport, local explorer. Either one (or both) will probably be ships that you keep for your entire ED career.

I do approve very highly of the Adder though as well, it has a lot of character and is very versatile for what it costs to operate. Cobra Mk III overshadows Adder in most peoples opinion and it should as it costs nearly four times as much, but no denying it is a very nice ship.

There is a lot of fun to be had trying out all the ships so I would not rush too fast to a larger ships unless trying ships is not of interest too you. The option to upscale is always there but once you skip a ship, going back to try it later after flying bigger ships is not going to be the same experience.
