Anaconda, Corvette, or Cutter

I'm looking to acquire one of these warships. I've finally gotten into money making after almost exclusively exploring for, well since XB1 GP.
The following are key factors and since many of you have had hands on I'd like your feedback.
Key Points I'm looking for:
- Able to easily protect itself and it's...special... cargo from all attacks and directions with relative ease.
- able to retrieve this ...special... cargo easily. Whether through force or not
- can scoop things easily, unless collector limpets can grab all types of cargo.
-- the frogging Type 7 was a pain in the rear hole to try and scoop cargo.
- fun to pilot.

I'm confused, why not all 3?

The Cutter is best for cargo and combat, with space for a scoop. I had 500t+ with a scoop on my jaques build.

The Corvette has junk jump range, not made for cargo, but great combat potential.

The Conda was the best there was. It still is an impressive ship. So, that being said

For Cargo: Cutter, Conda, Corvette.
For Combat: Corvette, Conda, Cutter
For Exploring: Conda, Corvette*, Cutter.

*I qualify the Corvette being second here, because it's better for planetary landings than the Cutter, and both have junk jump ranges, meaning the corvette wins out in the second spot.

Imperialists like to think the cutter is a warship, same way apple fans wants to think they're laptops can play games, granted most of them consider minesweeper or bejeweled as games.

It's a shiny type9 with good jump range and excellent fuel consumption, and enough shields to run.

In short.
The cutter is a big trader.
Corvette is pure combat.
The Anaconda can do everything well.
But not as great as the other specialised, which is why I have one of each.

If your goal is to make more money. Well nothing makes more money than a cutter.
Be it just A-B-A trading or sothis runs (I haven't tried the latter) you would make the money back spent on a cutter in a matter of weeks so might as well start with the cutter.

It's not that the three aren't an option. Eventually I'll get there but for now I'm looking for just one.

For me, the choice was easy as I don't have rank with either super power yet, but I'd go with Tortorden's answer. Conda is an all around performer, but cutter beats it handidly for trading and corvette beats it quite solidly for combat.

If you don't have the rank, there is no choice. Conda all the way, and no regrets. It's an awesome ship, albeit a space yacht that is prone to hit the top of the slot.. a lot.

Alright thanks a much for the input. Based on this looks like the Anaconda it is unless I manage to get my Fed Rank up by the time I'm ready to spend my money. Cargo space isn't a deal breaker right now. As long as I've got room for a few corrosive resistant cargo racks.

Get all three, and then you'll know. ;-)

In my experience, Conda is a great all-rounder and fine in combat. Corvette is great in combat but needs a mod to the FSD for bigger range.

I mainly fly the Cutter now (mods to PP, FSD, Thrusters and multi-cannon) because it's, er, interesting. Good for cargo, and challenging in combat. Put it this way - I turned off the voice message that says "Flight Assist Off/On" as it was doing my head in. ;-)

I love how every single reply in this topic is actually on point.

I own both the anaconda and the Cutter (don't have the fed rank since I'm the basking kind :D ), and trust me - you do NOT want to dogfight in a cutter. That thing is so slow and so drifty it hurts. I got mine fitted with A rated thrusters and it was still horrible.

Another thing about the cutter is the time it takes to recover from the boost and/or drift. It's insanely long. So once you boost - you better make sure you're pointing in the right direction because you won't be turning any time soon.

Anaconda on the other hand is really the best huge multipurpose ship that can actually do anything really good. You wanna explore? Sure, no problem. Strip it, mod it and you can easily get 40+ Lys. Wanna trade? Ofc - toss in 400ish tons of cargo and get rich. Wanna shoot stuff - you better bet your tin bottoms you can! I personally have mine fitted as a heavy fighter and it obliterates anything in any type of RES.

So yes - I'd say the Anaconda wins every feature if you take into consideration you won't have to swap ships and the overall price. Hell - for a "lousy" cutter fit ,you can buy and fit 2 condas - maybe even 3
