I understand the purpose of the policy, and agree with it, but it sounds so weak - like we're worried about hurting someone's feelings. These people need to be named and shamed, but because the internet is anonymous it doesn't have the desired social affect. It's just the opposite - they want to see their name, and their actions, in lights. It's griefer porn.
I have two suggestions:
1. Change "name and shame" to something different. Maybe our members could make some suggestions? I suggest something like our "Keep Calm and Carry On Anti-PVP Griefer Porn Policy", or our "Ignore the Bloody Bastards Anti-PVP Griefer Porn Policy".
2. Do not allow posts about griefers - maybe allow a heads-up post to remain a short while, but don't give too much promotion to it. Don't just redact the name; edit the post to only give the vital information and then lock it, and then delete it. There should not be discussions and replies filling up a thread as this is just griefer porn as well. Even if they don't see their name, they know they are the ones being talked about. Ideally, all the details would be handled via PMs and there would be no public mention at all.
Well, that's my 2-cents.
