Goodbye Cutter

Postby Sevin Church » Fri Jun 24, 2016 9:23 pm

I've only had it for a short time, but I'm so bored with it. Can't find decent loops, no money to outfit it for exploration, lands like a brick even on a .2g world.

Decided to go back to my Anaconda, I have a select build and when done I'm going to engineer it up and disappear in to the unknown.

But I want to hear what you guys do for exploration builds. There's always room for improvement. This is mine here: Star Gazer

Use my Ana for exploring, as light as possible with no guns. After the update of my fsd (level 3) it got 44,28 ly jump range.

I thought about no weapons, but I don't like flying 'naked' lol.

Think a fully a rated aspX with a5 shields can get at least 35 ly with a lucky lvl 3 roll with the farseer.

Personally I'm going to go with a clipper.
Only got a lvl 3 fsd mod on it but that takes it from 24 to 30 ly.
Currently working on getting farseer to rep 5 and see if I can get more.

I do like the AspX, used to use it to explore and do smuggling missions. I'm more concerned with Anaconda builds though. I want more internal space.

Thank you, but I am looking for ideas for an Anaconda. I have my build narrowed down though.

Looking at some of the builds and I have a question. Do you still need the 'Detailed Surface Scanner'?
I'm asking because when I recently fitted the 'Advanced Discovery Scanner' just to do a little exploring within the bubble while doing missions, so I could use the data to extend some goodwill with Engineers. I was surprised to find I could now scan the main star and all the discovered planet bodies without a 'Detailed Surface Scanner' being fitted. Can someone please confirm this because if so it frees up an internal slot which could be used for other things.
I may copy this post onto the explorers section of the game forum.

The detailed surface scanner will, as its name suggests, obtain more data about that planet's/moon's surface which, if you sell exploration data, will give you a few more credits. I don't think it's a great deal more but every little bit.

Why choose between the Anaconda and Cutter when you can have both? ^_^

I find the Cutter to be a good money maker to fund other ships

My Anaconda build can be found when clicking on my sig and looking at the details under the Fleet Entry. 30+LY, for long range exploring I would swap a cargo bay for an extra AFM. No weapons but various defensive measures to give me time to jump out if needed
