Just finished 3.9 upgrade, first run on mobius pve group, interdicted at destination and destroyed by PHOENIXWI in a Viper! What is going on?

Happened to me too, but I managed to escape with a damaged hull. Not sure who was the aggressor though.

Not listed as a member, so must have been an NPC

Hi Appleseed,

First, and this applies to everybody, please PM an administrator or a moderator rather than making such posts. Naming and Shaming is not allowed here.

Second, are you sure it wasn't a NPC? Everybody's saves have been reset, so I'd be surprised if a player already made enough to afford a Viper.

Apologies if I have over reacted, not sure how to tell the difference between npcs and players. According to the messages I recieved when I created the thread, it was vetted by a moderator before it was allowed to appear on the forum.

I have no problem if the thread is removed.

Is there any way I can check if a pilot name corresponds to a player or npc?

I did a search on the members list of this group. Also whilst in game, keep an eye on who is around you on the radar.
Solid blocks are NPC's, hollow are human players, and if they are triangle shaped thay also have their hardpoints deployed!

It's OK, mate. I allowed the thread to remind everyone of this rule (as we don't have many) and I didn't remove the name because I believe it was a NPC.

There are two ways to tell the difference between a player and a NPC: players have "CMDR" before their name, and they appear as hollow shapes on the scanner (a triangle when hardpoints are deployed or a square otherwise).

And BTW, welcome to the group and the forum, Commander! Feel free to introduce yourself in the Introduction sub forum. :)

Edit: There's also a way in-game (from the main menu) to see the list of all group members, BTW. Obviously a name not present in that list would be a NPC.

IF you target a ship, and the scan returns 'CMDR xyz' you are opposing a human player.
