Follow along here, they have not posted patch notes yet, but will update the thread when available.

Update 1: The servers are down. Here we go!

===

Hi guys,

Today's the day many of you have been waiting for. We're going to be updating Elite Dangerous with The Engineers (2.1) and 1.6. However, to do so we will need to bring the servers down for a long period of time while we apply the updates.

The servers will be down for potentially 10+ hours. It could be significantly shorter or longer and we wont be able to give a firm timeframe but we'll keep you informed on this thread as we get more information.

While you're waiting for the servers we have a few things going on to keep you entertained.

- We have a 1 hour AMA with David Braben on the Elite Dangerous subreddit at 11am. The thread will be going live on the subreddit closer to the time.
- We have the launch livestream from 1pm where Ed Lewis will be joined by David Braben, Mike Brookes, Sandro Sammarco and many more developers for some Q&As and giveaways. You'll find that on our official YouTube channel.
- We also have the beta servers still available for those of you with access so you can continue to enjoy some Beta action... perhaps head out to Wolf359 and enjoy some PVP

We will update the thread with the full patch notes once we have them.

Thank you for your patience.

10 hours! I think one of the patches at some time should include changes to allow for faster patching!

Although having said that, our work ERP upgrades can take 48 hours so I guess I shouldn't be impatient.

Hello,
Actually based on my experience in IT and SW development 10+ hrs isn't too bad, depending on the size and complexity of the patch or update. Had one stretch over 48hrs (total time) just recently. And that was supposed to have been a simple, straight forward patch.
Yes, I'm just as impatient as everyone else to get back into the game. Just have to be comfortable with the fact that, that isn't going to happen until tomorrow night.

Have fun, fly safe. o7

In the meantime, we can start updating our various tools. The network log file format has changed, jump destinations are now being included by default. Everything parsing these logs will need an update, most notably EDDiscovery (to 3.2.3) and Captain's Log (to 1.4.0).

It's going to impact the trader sites too, with all of the new commodities for Engineers.

I know it's a bit late to ask such a potentially redundant question, but I haven't been paying attention: since I don't have Horizons are all the weapon upgrades going to pass me by? Will I be totally outgunned by upgraded NPCs?

EDIT: Scratch that. I just caved and added Horizons. What the hell...

Good point. I didn't think about testing that at all for the SSC during beta :(

But by default they are adding Verbose=1. And logs will get XYZ coordinates for each system in the log as we jump in.

Most tools will break unless they can ignore the changes.
