Interactions with NPC?

Hi folks,

New to the forum and the Möbius group, and rather new to the game (few hundred hours tops). Happy to have found you, after a few unfortunate run-ins with human pirates and snipers in open play. I'm currently working my way to Azrael, scanning and picking up salvage as a I go.

My question: Have any of you had meaningful interaction with the "point of interest" NPCs, i.e. Seeking Weapons, Seeking Goods,,etc?

I was hoping to sell them my illegal salvage and illicit goods, rather than look for outposts with a black market or risk getting blown to bits at major stations. I've read that just passing near these ships with the right cargo will cause a transaction to happen, so maybe it's just the illegal nature of my cargo.

Can someone confirm if these ships are good for anything other than spaceway robbery?

Regards.

if you have just the right cargo they can be profitable, but its a case of having it exact. they won't just take any old thing.

Hi,

As Andy says they need to have the 'right' kind of cargo, if you have a cargo scanner you can see what they are carrying, and if you have the same cargo they'll buy it off you automatically once you are close enough to them.

oh yes, and...

Oddly enough, these transactions are considered smuggling, even if you buy legal goods. They can be (or have been) quite profitable, especially if there is a nearby station selling the desired goods at a low price. I don't think I've messed with them in over 6 months, so things may have changed.

Welcome Commander.

I recently had chance to come upon some "Questionable" Battle and Personal Weapons on a planet and was searching for somewhere to offload my cargo. There was no local station with a Black Market, and I was loathed to travel too far at the end of the night. I dropped in on a "Seeking Weapons" signal and was greeted by an small flotilla of ships protecting (I assume) a T9. My cargo was conveniently transferred (it seems they have some Reverse Limpet tech that takes it right from my hold) and I was paid a Fair "Galactic Average" price. So yes, they can be useful.

Based on one interaction, if they all pay "Galactic Average, there is money to be made if you find one in a system near a station that sells the items cheaply and you are lazy, or if the lack of a Black Market is an issue.
