I partly get why people rage quit now...

Went into a SSS to find 3 wings - 1 law 2 pirate - each had an Anaconda with a selection of Cobra's, Eagles and Sidewinders. Blew a couple of smaller ships and noticed that one of the pirate Conda's was no shield and 80%ish hull. Targeted and got the kill. In the process though the police 'Conda smashed into the pirate 'Conda and I hit him once - just once (OK with 3 pulse lasers) - and I get a 100CR bounty on my head. So after the pirate Anaconda is taken down I turn tail to jump out of the system, when all the police ships totally ignore the pirates with multi 100K bounties on their heads and aim for me with a little 100CR bounty for accidentally scraping the shields of a stupid cop who got in the way cause he can't turn.

So as I boost away the police 'Conda rams me causing insta-death.

I get that I got a bounty for accidentally grazing the shields of someone who got in the way. Even though I feel it should have been a fine as there was no harm done and it wasn't sustained fire. But why do the police then ignore these pirates with massive bounties on their heads (read - multiple murders and thefts) and immediately go for the smallest 100CR bounty in the field for grazing a shield?!

I brought back my Python for 3.5mill, lost about 250k bounties (thankfully had only just left dock). Then calmly quit and came here to rant! LOL

This experience has made me have more of an understanding of why people rage quit the game. Considering there was no damage done (aside from maybe 1-2% of shield loss), it wasn't sustained fire and the ship I hit wasn't the one I had targeted, I don't get why I got a bounty? It just doesn't make sense, a fine yes - even a large one, but a bounty?! Of 100CR?!

OK rant over, walking away from the game for a while and working on my CNC router for a bit :D

Happened to me more than one, luckily I always managed to run away. I totally agree thought that it is over exaggerated to get a fine like this and to be instantly chased to death.

Sorry for your loss

It's a pain, it's like when you "forget" to let the scan finish and you shoot a Wanted ship, that's currently being attacked by every cop in the vicinity, and then suddenly 'you' are most wanted number one.

Especially after 1.4 THEY ACTUALLY FIXED IT, only to break it again in 2.0...

Still even with all this, the game is less broken now, than when they released 1.3, it was literally unplayable until patch 5..

I think we're playing different games.

I have mostly been tooling around on surfaces, occasionally hitting up haz res (High's are shit again)
And I gave up on missions before 1.3 dropped, and nothing i hear makes me consider doing any.
Heck most look like an hours work for less pay than a sidey..
Did a couple of fehu missions before beta but was getting bored with that before beta landed.
But what i meant by fixed it in 1.4, was that in 1.4 if you shot a wanted before finishing scan nothing happened.

Apparently that was to functional.

I can't remember if it was a fine or bounty, or whether I became wanted. But several times my finger would slip and I'd switch from scanning to firing my lasers before scanning finished. I'd have to leave the system for 10 minutes, h-jump back, pay, and resume. I think I was usually chased away by the cops if I didn't leave immediately.

But I do remember occasionally hitting a cop when they would stray into my sights and nothing nasty happened. In the past this was a big no no.

Same for me after grinding a CZ.

I have to be so god damn careful to not scratch anything by accident or my 100-600 mil credits will go to waste

I can't disagree with anything you said Smartroad. But my immediate action on gaining a bounty is to leave the system (unless I'm doing PP undermining, which I don't do anymore). Just stay away until it expires and you can pay it off.

It was changed as part of FD's response to a lack luster action/repercussion system. They still have a lot of work to do, but it's been a while, and I'm not holding my breath on them fixing it.

Well on the bright side my CNC router is now homing nicely :D

Just finished another session, managed to earn about 1.5 million (although 750k was for a delivery mission not combat, but it was easy money so why not). Now just have to earn the remaining 2.5 million to get back where I started from. I think it will soon be time to go on a research mission away from the bubble ;)

That is exactly what I was trying to do as the ram happy cop got me LOL Its just annoying, IRL it would be like a few police surrounding a murderer, burgler and a thief, all known for doing it as a 'career'. I accidentally bump into a policeman while trying to take down one of the felons and I get the tazer while they let the others get away LOL
