Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hey Guys, new here and I did read the policy and thought I had the rules down and feel they are very fair but have I made a mess up please?

I was in a Military Strike zone fighting for Zachary Hudson and see 2 other players on opposing sides. I had read the rules and thought it was ok to attack and kill the opposing faction player in this military strike zone or have I got this wrong? The player I killed told me I am not allowed to kill mobius players, so I am a little worried I have broken the rules (which was never my intention).

Really sorry if I have broken the rules and not sure what I could do to make it up to the guy?

The rules state only in a Conflict Zone, and I am not aware since I don't do Power Play, if a Strike Zone is a Conflict Zone. It may well be, and if it is, then you are okay.

If it is not, and I am sure someone that really knows will be along shortly, then yes, you did break the rules.

Do you have to pick a Side under Functions on the Right Hand panel in game? If so, then it is like a Conflict Zone.

No, it is part of the PowerPlay and we were both aligned with different factions and this is why I thought it was ok to fight. Thanks for the reply

Just to add, it works the same as a conflict zone with 2 opposing forces and the only difference is merits instead of money.

There was 2 of them in a wing and both were firing upon me but I did start it. Nothing was said either in-game till after I had destroyed his ship.

Yeah... No, you did break the rules. A conflict zone is the Only place you can shoot at another commander.

I would think that an apology would suffice as well as that you publicly posted it, I am sure that the Powers that Be will not be too harsh. However if the other commanders do lodge a complaint, Then said powers will have to deal with it.

I am not a power that be, so Ignore what I say.

Wait, do you have to select a side like in a CZ? Yes or No? This is very important.

No, because you are in factions, you are automatically in a side. No neutrals at all in these zones and red or green.

The Commander was Ranualf and not sure how I can send him a message to apologise.

If there is no way to select a side, then yes, it was against the rules. Sorry.

As far as contacting the commanders in question, you can try to add them in game, or look them up here or on the forums.

I know at least one is here on the forums if my PM's are any indication.

It sounds like an honest mistake. But to be clear, PvP is only allowed in Combat Zones. Although several PP battle zones operate similarly, it is not the same as a CZ.

I am surprised that nobody tried to communicate during the attack.
