Wait, what's wrong with mobius? Isn't it just, like, a pve thing or did I miss something?

Yes, but the "authentic pirates" think it's some kind of abomination.

According to the Pirates, CMDR Mobius is guilty of creating an abomination :D

One mans' revolutionary is another mans' terrorist.

The Code are the best recruiting tool MobiusPvE has, if they didn't already exist we'd have to invent them ;)

I think those who keep saying that we are annoying fanatics who are always recruiting and when someone says they are tired of getting blown up in Open that we offer a place of shelter are annoyed because they enjoyed victimizing and dominating soft targets that were no threat to them and now they have to look for targets that may *Gasp* shoot back at them.

What I find the most amusing and at the same time puzzling, as the concept is really easy to grab is the following:

None of the people arguing against private groups or the so called "shared" BGS between Solo, group, open actually have a grasp on how the online play of Elite: Dangerous actually works.

We are all, always on the same servers. There are no "modes". The instancing mechanism always uses the same algorithm to pair you with others, to the max of 32 players in the same "island".

Solo and private group and open are just filters on top of that mechanism:

Even Open is just another group, albeit not private and all accounts are member, but the mechanics are exactly the same.
You have to go online in that "group" to see other players online in the same group.

This means you will never really meet everyone who is at a certain location at a certain time.
Even if there would be no group or solo option, domination of a location is not possible. 32 players max!

I can think of many ways to avoid being paired with certain other players even when playng in open.
You just have to know a little about networking ;)

Cheers

Well put, and precisely why I find this whole debate so ridiculous.

The 32 player Max is also why this isn't an MMO its merely an MO and has more in common with dark souls than a real MMO.

Then again only mmo I ever have played is eve online so maybe i shouldn't bother.

I was reading that reddit thread and i can but shake my head and laugh, some people will just never grow up !
But imho. the best thing to do is to ignore the whailing babies, that way they soon learn that they get no responce and tire of this..
I am the father of two, and in my experience it is with some kids better to ignore when they start acting up. that way they learn that to get attention thay have to behave and ask nicely ;)
This kind of brats is one of the reasons i stopped playing EVE...
As TorTorden so elegantly put it in another thread is propably whats gonna happen when they run out of players to herass :

Hey I can connect Seven'o9 and Mobius (executes happy dance)"
Mobius and Seven'o9 meets up, become friends and go on to rule the universe together.
Cmdr dipshit is left alone eating stale churro's while watching redtube on his second monitor.

I played WoW for something like 6 years, and apart from in raids and in cities during major events, the most players I ever saw out in the world at one time was maybe a dozen, and that was rare.

Even then, raids were limited to 25 players (40 in the old days), even big PvP events like battle grounds only had a couple of dozen people in them at any one time.

Eve is fairly unique with the number of people who can be together at the same time, and whilst WoW would have potentially hundreds of people playing on the same server at the same time, you never saw any of them so it was fairly irrelevant.

On the very very rare occasions when you had a very large number of people together (world events) the lag was so god awful that the game was practically unplayable.

32 people in an instance is fine with me.
