Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hi Commanders,

I need some advice, I have reach my first 1,000,000 Cr with my Cobra. I want to focus more on trading, but I don't want to abandon completely bounty hunting. Should I sell my cobra and buy a type-6 to make more money quickly then buy a second ship exclusively designed for fighting like a viper (or better). Or should I keep my cobra earn more credits to buy the type-6, then outfit the cobra for fighting as second ship ?

A fully fitted type 6 trader would cost you about 2.5 mil (you really want that FSD)
I would keep the cobra, but I really like having ships dedicated for a purpose and got the fleet to prove it

Another option is to sell the cobra get the Type 6 and a viper or an eagle for combat, The viper has the same weapons loadout as the cobra but isn't quite as fast in a straight line (but then again I never really flew the cobra), you can have both a T6 and a good viper for just over 4 mil depending on how much you have in the cobra that should be doable.

Keep trading/hunting in your Cobra until you have the funds to purchase a Type 6. Then give that the trading role and move your Cobra exclusively to hunting.

It's close to what I did, though now I've got a Vulture (for hunting/combat) and an Asp that replaced my Type 6. I was never happy ferrying cargo around the stars easy pickings for any pirate, so by sacrificing a little space I can competently fight back in the Asp whilst still having, at present, 72 tons of cargo space. (along with all the other perks of the Asp).

Thanks for your advice, that really help me. I will keep my cobra for at least 2 more mil, then buy that Type-6.
But I am still not sure, when I have the type-6, if sell my cobra for a viper or if I outfit the cobra for hunting. What is the advantage of the viper over the cobra ? (They have the same weapons loadout)

From my recent experience - as I've just done pretty much what you have done or about to, the vipers shields are far superior than the cobra and it is far quicker to accelerate all in all I'm preferring the viper over the cobra for combat - but, no cargo space the way I run, in then steps my cobra for light haulage and able to look after itself, I recently lost my type 6, weak shields and slow - but 3 times the profit per run.. My type 6 is now a little stronger so fingers crossed - I should survive the next npc interdiction... It has made me wary running the type 6 - need to get my

And... Point to remember - don't fly the type 6 like the cobra - imagine driving a 40ft truck to a little Mini Cooper... I managed to smash Into the station letterbox by not treating it how a bulky heavy ship needs to be treated

Once I have got my credits back I've lost in my recent smash, I'll be tweaking my
Cobra as it's so versatile and experimenting with a couple of other roles before I splash out on a new ship

I recently lost my type 6, weak shields and slow - but 3 times the profit per run.. My type 6 is now a little stronger so fingers crossed - I should survive the next npc interdiction...

Wow, how can you avoid this situation without reducing to much cargo space for big shield ?

And last time I got into a type 6 I thought, "wow this a small zippy, manoeuvrable little thing"

But anyways, always have shields on your first run in a new boat heh.

I've yet to do it but as flip pointed out yesterday to me...

Select a new system to jump into In case you get interdicted, you won't suffer a mass lock and - npc's won't follow you,
In other words - get the hell out the dodge

I was pulled out of SC twice barely survived the first one - second one I blinked and I was blown up

That's you and your anaconda and type 9 experience

Don't do it. The Type-6 is a pirate magnet. I was interdicted on almost every cargo run I did on the type-6 until I gave up, and went back to a Cobra. I worked the Cobra on Rares until I had enough cr on hand to jump straight to an Asp. Before I switched to exploration, I used my Asp for cargo runs to save up enough for the outfitting I wanted.
