Multiple ship ownership

Currently enjoying my cobra for cargo runs and bounty hunting.. but I am aiming to be flying another ship in the very near future - it will probably be an asp - initially geared for trading then to set off out into the unknown...
Roughly, how much is storage for ships? I read factors influence this like station facilities etc... I Would like to keep the cobra on standby fitted solely for combat rather than it's multi role now but I don't fancy paying through the teeth for the privilege

Many thanks

Hi, I am pleased to inform you that ship storage is free

. It was once discussed during development that there would be a charge, but this was never introduced, so you can keep as many ships, in as many stations as you like.
Just remember that the only way (currently) to get to the ships you have stored is to fly to the station where they are kept.

Storage is free, I read there is a 250 limit on ships you can store.

More specifically, the limit is 25 per station, 250 total.
Because of the lack of any bookmarking system on the galaxy map, some people use a stashed sidewinder as a pseudo-bookmark - I think that's probably the only time someone might hit the limit, though.

no, actually i sold off a huge bunch of them to make some Anacondas instead, it was starting to get a bit ridiculous so i consolidated. it took more than 20 Vultures to make one A-graded combat Anaconda, and 10 more to make an A-grade trader. there's only 5 Vultures left now

i'm getting withdrawal symptoms, maybe i can pick some up cheap somewhere...

All I can add is to remember that in order to get the other ship in the station out, your current ship must be empty of cargo. Sounds simple unless one of your ships is a transport

I've noticed recently that some of the salvage/piracy missions don't take all the relevant cargo from your hold. When you "give cargo" to finish the mission, it only takes one tonne...
