Missed ships

Man, I feel like a dingus.
Played since May, went from a Sidey to a Cobra, then a DBS to a Vulture ending up in a Python.
All well and good you say, but then I thought, "I've missed a few steps here." Tried a Viper. Much fun, but nothing special.
Tonight I tried an A rated eagle in a RES for the first time. OMG. Haven't had fun like that since I first started this game.
And I thought you could throw the Vulture around. Wow.
My advice to anyone else out there is if the grind is getting too much, why not try a ship you've overlooked? You may be surprised.

The Eagle is one of the best ships in the game for people who love to fly. Its performance is exceptional in all areas except speed, but it is such a joy to fly that no matter how much cash I get I will always have an eagle to fly around in. Yes, its made of Paper and Spit and can be blown out of space with only a stone being thrown at it, but my god it's a blast to fly.
The Vulture is the natural progression of the Eagles ability to fly with more punch and is made of much more durable Paper and spit. Once the shields are gone a Vulture will fall fairly quickly, but at least it has a chance to escape. It is not pretty like the Eagle, and it has the same issue with the fact it is slow, it has power issues, but the Eagle is the only other ship that can out fly it.
Vipers and the Imperial Eagle are related (Speed). The Cobra is a Super Sidewinder(All Around Fun). Imperial Courier and Imperial Clipper of course go together (They fly about the same), and the Python and Anaconda (Punchy and Tanky). So if you enjoy one of these ships, the sister ship should be just as enjoyable as you move up.
But the Eagle will always be the Pilots ship. You may love others, but race an Eagle out of a station, go around the outside of it skimming the station, zipping in and out of pylons and such, and back inside and you will see why the Elite Racing Association loves it.
It is the Mazda Miata (MX-5) of the Elite Ships. Sure there are faster, prettier, tougher ships out there, but for sheer fun and cheapness, I will take it every time when I just want to blast around.

Oh yeeeeeeess the Eagle IS a wild beauty is it. Love it. I enjoy the constantly overheating beam Freagle (see the Eagle loadout thread). And
Eagle events ...
Looking forward how it performs in CQC, hope it will be it 's second sunrise.

Waiting for 1.4 to drop on Live, and I'll add an Imperial Eagle to my roster of ships. That said, as much fun the normal eagle is, it is a ship held together by wet tissue paper and duct tape

So it's probably going to be for showing off my allegiance to the Empire. For proper combat engagement, I take my little DB Scout over it any day.
Which brings me to the actual topic, try the Diamondback Scout, if you haven't yet. Patented Lakon heat management, without the feeling of driving a flying brick

It's how it sounds man, how it sounds.. god that boost noise it makes. Took one out for a spin in beta, looked around in the cockpit and said: "Well shit, I'll be having an Eagle after all."

I love the eagle, but honestly the imperial courier has it beat

It's almost as fast as a fer-de-lance and clipper all out, and about as nimble as the vulture.
It's guns are a little underwhelming but it has shields that would make a python raise an eyebrow...

It is no where near as nimble as the Vulture. It may feel that way, but if you look at the ratings, An Eagle is 10/10 on agility, Vulture is 9/10 and a courier is a 6/10. The viper is a 6/10 as well. A Diamondback Scout is an 8 and the Explorer is a 5. Asp is 6 and Sidewinder is an 8. The new Imperial Eagle is listed as a 6/10 as well. Its top boost is 405 compared to the Cobra at 400 and the FDL is only at 350. The Courier is listed at 380 boost. So Yes, it is faster at boost as the FDL both in Boost and regular.. These are all base numbers.
How it Feels is a lot different, and stats are only numbers.
