Blown to bits after just four trades

Hi all
I joined Mobius to avoid all the crazy gun happy pilots in standard Elite.
I was'nt prepared for what happened in Mobius.
A simple journey within a local system (Eravate) and I was Interdicted and blown to bits
by some crazy gunmab called KRUGER.
I did'nt have time to see if he was NPC or "Human" but he sure was determined to blast me.
I am thinking I will quit Elite Dangerous completely if this is normal for a peacfull trade.

Its extremely unlikely to have been a Mobius CMDR that attacked you. Its forbidden and taboo. However NPC's will still attempt to. There has to be some element of risk. You will find as you progress you will get better at avoiding this. You will still lose some now and again. If it makes you feel better I lost 10 Million Credits only a week or so ago when my fully laden T9 was interdicted by an NPC anaconda. It happens. You will get better and you will lose some, but you will also gain more and equip a better ship more able to defend itself.

Don't give up even though you will get knocked back now and again. :D

Sorry for your loss. As Bootsam mentioned although Möbius members may not attack each other it doesn't extend to the NPCs.

Think of Möbius as Solo mode but with friends. If you wish maybe someone might be online at the same time you are and would be willing to wing up with you and act as someone to defened you while you trade :) Just pop a request on the forum and maybe someone will be available :D

It was indeed very unlikely to be a real commander (btw real commander names are always prefixed by CMDR in the comms), but NPCs can indeed be determined little buggers, as bootsam says don't give up, these things happen.

There are some tips that can help out, check the security status of the system you are going to in the map and stick to high security until you are in a position to defend yourself. When you are travelling put 4 pips into engines and 2 in system, if you get interdicted don't fight it, just zero your throttle and submit, as soon as you come out of SC hit boost, keep hitting boost until your FSD comes on line and the jump out again, if you find you are mass-locked choose a different system to jump to (this nullifies the mass-lock).

ED isn't a kind game, but it doesn't take too long before you are wreaking your revenge on NPCs

I swear some times this game just decides to kill you.

I have lost four t9's so far to really gungho npc's,
Full load of cargo and 4mil rebuy on at least three of them.
First two times I even had shields on but I was looking at a rebuy screen before even the fsd cool down had started.

It doesn't matter if you want to avoid fights.... if you're looking for a "peaceful trade," you'll have to get lucky to achieve that, because pirates want your stuff.

NPCs up to 2 ranks higher than you can come after you and attack.

It's risky to fly without shields. It's risky to fly a slow or clumsy ship.

I know plenty of people have done well overall with Lakon freighters, but I tend to agree with those who avoid flying Lakon T*'s and think of them as "death buses." Maybe it has something to do with how quickly they disintegrate under my guns when I'm undermining. <.<

Sorry to hear that you got killed while minding your own business. That sucks, to say the least. I always submit/run from interdictions, exactly the way Xebeth describes it below. Even when I'm flying my battle ready Python. The fight, and collecting the bounty, is more trouble to me than it's worth.

BTW, if you participate in PP you get interdicted a **LOT** more. So, if you have pledged to a power you may want to considering leaving it so that you can have a more peaceful E-D experience.

I didn't know that you can select a different system and it cancels the mass lock. Wow... thanks Xebeth! ;)

If it was a human, there would be the CMDR prefix as mentioned previously, and the dot on your scanner for them would be hollow.

I have definitely had NPCs persistent enough to interdict me 3 times in a row after I bit off more than I could chew, and was bee-lining for a station. I've had them follow me to stations.

If I see this Kruger, I will happily turn him into dust for you. Unless he's an anaconda with escorts. :D

Yeah, mass lock affects low energy FSD jumps- meaning in system ones (going back to supercruise). Hi energy FSD jumps (to other systems) aren't affected by mass lock.

Another tip - if an NPC comes after you do what Xebeth said, if it isn't working (and it does in 99.9% of the cases) and you find yourself losing shields - hit silent running - he will lose you as a target and you will buy yourself some time for FSD to charge. Be careful of overheating though- once you FSD is almost charge switch silent running off.

If you want extra protection, join the Ghost Squadron wing. We are intependent bounty hunters with traders and explorers division. You can trade with wing of 3 Annies and covert your lost mone very quickly :-) You can found The Ghost Squadron here and Inara </End of recruiting>

:-)

NPC pirates stil exist and when flying smaller ships, it can be dangerous. I remember how i was flee and try to escape Imperial Clipper with Sidey and nearly ripped a part. Last week i was encounrer heaviest LOL-WTF moment at this point of my ED career.

Pirate with little unshielded Eagle interdict my Annie (submitted to it) and say "I'm gonna boil you up!"
