Python or an Anaconda?

Well been out exploring now for 4-5 months, didn't intend to be quite that long but got addicted

covered close on 200,000 lys in the trusty Asp. 50,000 of that lost in a bug where I was at the outer edge and I logged into find my ship had blown up

Anyway I hope to be back at base today, fair winds and all that. When I do, I should have around 300 million credits burning a hole in my pocket and I want to treat myself to a new ship I just cant decide on the Python or Conda.
I should be able to get a pretty good pimped out Python for that cash or a fairly good Conda. What I'm looking for is a good ship for combat zones, got my Vulture for Res and a Clipper for trading. I prefer CZ's to Res so which ship would be better for a good dust up?

I'd say conda but TBH you are going to need more money, my CZ spec'd conda cost in the region of 400 million credits as its stuffed to the gills with SCB's, 3 shield boosters and 3 chaff launchers.
there is a link to my build at the end of this post.
you will notice i only use class 5 shields, this is a holdover from its trade config when i dropped it from a class 6 to make room for more cargo, it saves a bit of cash over a C6 (about 20 million) but the reduction in power usage means i can power 2 SCB's at a time and go from 1 ring to full shields with the press of a button.
the MC's tend to run out of ammo fairly quickly but having them installed instead of lasers reducing the chance of overheating when firing, it only overheats if i boost, fire and trigger SCB's all at once.

Anaconda beats Python, without a doubt.

Hello,
I'm too far away from either Python or Anaconda. I'm trying to grind a Python and at the same time hoping to build enough rep for a Clipper.
The things is I see alot of people using gimballed/fixed weapons, even on big ships like the Conda, Python and Clipper. I would assume that turreted weapons would be more helpful in a Conda especially for the 2 small bottom rear mounted hardpoints, or am I wrong?
Thanks and regards.

As someone who owns both ships i can tell you this:
Python beats the anaconda by LIGHTYEARS when it comes to fun, agility, and combat enjoyment - especially in RES locations. Anaconda is just waaaay to big and slow to out-turn the ships in there. Plus - for 140-50mil you can get an imba Python, and you need at least 300-400mil for an awesome anaconda.
HOWEVER - when it comes to CZ, the anaconda is the way to go. I did a few CZ runs with a very cheap combat anaconda (190-200mil) and it felt rock solid compared to the python which you need to actually fly, dodge and manage in a CZ (it's a faceroll in RES).
So, if you're going for a general combat ship - Python is the only option in my opinion. If you're going for combat ranks and you'll be hitting CZs mostly - then yes, by all means go for the Anaconda. She's a brutal tank even with cheap hull upgrades and shields.

Personally Turrets are a no go for me, they fire until you overheat, then keep on going causing heat damage (this is based on trying in beta admittedly) and the only way of stopping that was to switch fire groups to stop them.
On the Anaconda I use the 2 small bottom hard points for seeker missiles, a lazy but fun option if a ship is running away, plus it is most satisfying to listen to and watch when they launch

On the original topic, for the money you would have a rock solid Python plus plenty of change, yes the Anaconda is a great ship but when it gets in trouble you struggle to run as it is slow.
The Python packs a huge punch but has a decent turn of speed as well, plus with the money you will have you can go for military hull as well as whatever choice of armament you desire.

Drop the clipper for trading. Use a conda.
Same pad but twice the cargo.
With the discount you can easily build a trading conda for around 170mil and a CZ python or a little below 120 for a combat python.
You don't need a grade pp a B grade got plenty of power unless you want particle accelerators etc nor do you need the expensive alloys either. They might be good in a pinch but honestly once your shields fail you be shifting your offensive strategy anyways (aka running away)
The the trade conda can easily be tweaked into your next exploration ship when you want to go again (I have fits reaching 39.4 ly per jump)
Personally I would get the conda first. With mine I can make about 2 mil every ten minutes and you can then perfect a combat python as you go.
Yes the conda is better in cz's but it will need more money roughly 4-500 mil before it outperforms a 120 mil python.

@blazingmaniac.
Turrets actually saw a major boost in 1.3 granted making them stop shooting is an issue still they won't shoot targets not hostile and you can focus their fire by setting them to "target only" in functions.
Since I'm only using my conda for trading still I no problem using 4 large gimballed pulses and multicannon turrets for the rest, I have only two weapon groups and one is dedicated to kW scanner, partially to silence the turrets.
I wish they could at least make them work on toggle, like setting turrets to secondary fire, first press lets loose, second silences the turrets.
Oh and 3-400 mil is holding back i see fits posted close to a billion if you like
