Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hi

I'm new to Mobius and very much appreciate the freedom it gives me to socialise (or not) on my terms, and play the game my way without having to go solo.

I've recently started getting a lot of unsolicited friend requests, some repeatedly persistent even after I've rejected them.

Is this grounds for ejection from the group or should I just put those players on Ignore?

Not trying to make waves here, it's just that this NEVER happened until I joined this group.

Don't get me wrong, friend requests are all well and good: if you've at least met the person making the request. Let's not turn the game into facebook, folks.

Have you put your name on the players/friend list topic? If you did - people usually just add other commanders they find there.

I wouldn't worry about it, basically players add other commanders they see so that when viewing the galaxy map you get a good idea of where everyone is, in the early days before the friend icon feature people would moan about not seeing other players. since we have the friend icon now seeing where other members of your group is becomes an interesting tool. I've got hundreds on my friends list yet I never talk to any of them.

Same here, i just accept any friend request I get, hardly any chat me up and when I have they have been great group of people, this isn't Facebook we are all here for the same reasons.
Primarily to fly some spaceships, shooting laser guns and the breeze.
Often swapping hunting spots or profitable trade routes.

I started adding people from the friends list, but there are so many that I had to give up.
I always accept any friend requests I get because, as Mobius pointed out, you don't have to chat to them all.
And when you've been a long way out exploring like I have, it's nice to see those friendly green icons dotted about the place.
Recently I've just been putting out requests to people who introduce themselves on the forum. I reckon that if they do that, then they probably want some interaction with other members.

Thanks for all your replies, you've put my mind at rest. My concerns stemmed from other games where you get inundated with these things, and nearly always regret accepting because they'll jump on you before you've even had a chance to log in!

I'm not saying there isn't bad eggs in here as well, but I have been playing in mobius since about june 01 and havent met anyone who hasn't added positively to my gaming experience, even though anything outside of trading and merit hunting in a wing cuts profit down to a minimum of 25%

When I see another real player, I usually chat one line "Hello fellow Mobius" and got usually answer for that. It is just polite and good basic manners of the "Old Covenant" like me.

Sometimes when I was checking that that the commander has one of the lower ranks, I will give some profitable trade route tip if possible.

I never send friend requests for these encounters, but if the commander asks me as a friend, neither not rejected him/her.

I usually send friends request to all I see while flying in Mobius. I consider you all buddies. And I can't tell who denied it or not.

Feel free to block me. This should lower the chance of us appearing in the same instance.

I had a single bad experience when a commander I bumped into a res refused my wing invite and started yelling because it was "his instance" and I had "no right to be there since I saw him flying around"

Cmdr something Thompson - a guy who's introduction post I couldn't even find on the forums here.

But I'm sure he won't be sending any friend invites with an attitude like that

No point playing in a GROUP if you don't wanna play with people.
