Today is 8/5 if horizon was announced today and the gamescom release is tomorrow and as previously stated it isn't something we have seen yet...what the hell are they going to talk about that can compete with horizons?

How about the cost of Horizons? 130 pounds correct?

Do you really think it is worth it over a lifetime of expansions?

I remember WoW and Everquest hitting you up for 10-20 pounds every time there was an expansion, both are over 10 expansions each, looking at it that way it is worth it.

The flip side is that both of those were complete worlds with a lot of alternatives to grinding levels. Not quite the same diversity in Elite.

In the long run for me it will be a wait and see approach, I have dropped quid for 2 games in advance, never again.

(Utter and complete hijack, sorry, reread your opening statement.)

130 pounds is for the Season Pass. That is a Lifetime upgrades option. Horizons itself is 40 pounds and you get a discount for being a current customer.

I used to play SW:TOR. It was 15 us a month. so a Year was 180. THIS is much cheaper. WoW is the same price, and they charge for Expansions on top of it, so 50 us a year is a bargain.

All depends if YOU feel its worth it. I don't have a NetFlix account, I don't subscribe to a Music Service. My Entertainment money is not a reoccurring expense type, so I don't think its too much. Maybe the pass for me is cheaper, but I have no idea what next week brings, let alone 2 years from now.

I would have to know what the rest of the future content would be before buying into it. Is there a list of content set for release? Without knowing that then it's hard to predict the value of the game with all the extra stuff.

I avoided mmo games where you pay an up front price and then pay subscriptions afterwards. For me it's like buying a car outright and then paying rent on it as well just for giggles! I don't think frontier would go down that route thankfully but I would appreciate a rough calender of releases to help justify the cost.
