Long time since the last patch so....

It's been 20 days since the last client side update and only a few less since the small server fixes on exploration.
Normal pattern has seen the volume of fixes reduce as we approach a bigger release as the changes get rolled into the next 'big thing'.
I'm guessing that we will hear about the Beta for 1.4 this week, maybe getting our hands on it next week. Then the following week I think the 'massive exciting announcement' that keeps getting referred to should be due.
Thoughts?

If the massive exciting announcement is anything to do with CQC, then I see nothing to get excited about.
Hopefully it will be all the player group stuff we've been hearing about and also improved in game communications.

They did say they have something "big" to announce at gamescom. I hope it's something next to CQC. And yea, group content would be awesome!

I'd be willing to bet that the gamecom announcement is CQC related, my guess is that they will announce they are working on map creation and mod tools for it, plus they are planning to release a standalone server for it in an attempt to turn it into the counterstrike of space games.
its just a guess but from the little i've seen of CQC its perfectly suited to the sort of LAN gaming/clan play environment that is the backbone of so many other games.

I kinda hope it is something other then CQC but it probably will be. Just wish they would fit CQC better into the established lore of the game - like it is some form of 'sim' that is carried on hyperspace comms so that anyone in the galaxy can play. If it was a sim then it would also explain the power ups that really don't (for me) fit in the game universe, but obviously work for a LAN/clan play game I suppose

FD have already said the Gamescom announcement is separate from CQC. I am guessing it will be the announcement for the first expansion.
