The merits of being in a PvE group

Not having this kind of Problem:
Seeing as folks don't seem to frequent Freeport anymore - it seems that the griefers have a new modus...

Hang around star ports and then ram ships with no shields. Just seen a cobra repeatedly ram a hauler who had no shields (I'm guessing to carry more?) till it blew up.

We need traffic violation police...
The Hauler couldn't do anything - certainly couldn't fire back as it was in the no-fire zone - and the griefer will just fly away.

Morons.

Indeed. I read that thread too with a wry smile on my face.

Seems some people just aren't happy unless they're screwing up someone else's day.

This kind of crap is what will put people off the game. Ramming is pretty much a last resort sort of tactic to me, but to actively go out and do this to people is just cowardly.

Yeah, had a Sidewinder ram me at a port once as I was heading towards the toast rack in Beta 1. Thankfully was in a Cobra with 100% shields so was more of a nuisance than anything else. This sounds much worse.

Issues with players trying to take me out around ports when I was minding my own business doing some trading is what was really pissing me off about the game, very happy to have the group to log into now and have the camaraderie without the idiots.

And that is the reason why this group rocks.

I saw that thread as well. There is a hundred ways players can get together to be a pain in mechanically able but unrealistic and very annoying ways.

The best thing FD ever did was to allow players an option out of all play into groups.

The thread on the main forum has over 350 replies now but I just can't make myself look at it. Probably full of justifications for why it's allowed and that it's 'testing'.

Damn, my posts are depressing today...must be the headache.

Yes this group is the best one to be in and in my mind is more akin to how DB wants the game to be played.

But there is another issue we should all think about.
How do we deal with a member of Mobius who joins just to take the fun out of our play. i.e. One (or more) of those psychopaths decides to join us in the guise of being a PVE type who starts killing the rest of us.

Do we have a procedure to deal with that?
Is there a method of ejecting a player from the group?
Who decides?
What evidence is required?
Etc Etc....

Not that this (I trust) has happened yet, but it probably will.
If no policy exists, then we should develop one.

At the moment it is Mobius alone who decides. I don't think he likes that, but the group mechanism is very basic so far and does only allow him to administer the group.
About the questions of proving what really happened the game does not give you enough information at the moment.
I have put in a feature request here: http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=49388
because I think with that groups like ours could make much more informed decisions.
