Looking for a Lakon Type-7

Postby JohnLuke » Sat May 30, 2015 12:17 pm

Hi all..... I've finally saved up enough coin to trade in my T-6 for a Lakon Type-7, but I can't seem to find one!

I'm in Federation space, and have checked Fusang, Neto, LFT 1748 and Bhritzameno so far. I am searching for high population high tech systems, but am getting a little frustrated at the moment.

Any recommendations for the location of a shipyard that may have a T-7 would be greatly appreciated! :D

There is definitely one at Loki Tan (worden city) and Pisaly (noon Enterprise) but not sure how far these are from you.

I'm in Empire space, so I can't really help. It sounds like you're looking in the right places.

One thing I want to say is that I wish I had gone ahead and got the clipper after the T7. Like, as soon as I could go t7 to clipper. At the time, I didn't think it's speed would help much in trading. However, it's so much faster and will save you so much time trading. I got a clipper much later, and tried it out, and thought, aww man, this would have been so much better.

Good luck.

I currently own a T-7, but I find it frustratingly hard to fly that brick. I bump the station's exit/entrance constantly despite aligning the ship with the relative mid-point of the docking bay. When entering a station I found it even harder to time a collision-free entry with the station's rotation so at last I installed a Docking Computer. But sadly, the bloody thing will only dock and not undock :-)

However, I strongly encourage installing one if you're not a docking ace... :-)

You accept it or you change it.

I never did fly the T7, but went for the Clipper and really enjoyed it. After having struggled with the T9 and its' sluggishmess making my hands hurt, I am kind of glad I didn't get the T7 before the Clipper, even if it would have been fun to just try it out.

I suggest you go for the Clipper. If you do get the T7 though, let us know what you think! :)

Thanks blazingmaniac! DUH!! I completely forgot about the WIKI page. :P

And... I even used the WIKI page when I was moving up to an Adder, a million light years ago. Sheesh.

Thanks to all for the tips on docking the T-7 and the option to get a Clipper instead. I love the looks of the Clipper but my problem is that I've only been in Federation space so far, so I don't have the Empire rank to be able to buy one. I wonder how quickly someone could get to Baron rank? Hummm..... something to ponder.

Thanks for all the help, guys. :)

have you already got one yet?

JohnLuke wrote:have checked Fusang, Neto, LFT 1748 and Bhritzameno so far.

try LFT 926. i don't think that's very far from those systems you mentioned and i'm 99% certain i saw a T7 when i was browsing the shipyard - i'll go and confirm 100% if you haven't already bought one

---> definitely at LFT 926, Meredith City. about 17.5 million credits

Depending on your ambitions, ranking up and getting the clipper could be well worth the time spent. If you think you might trade a lot, then you reallly should get the clipper now (or soon, before you get up towards a Python).

Thanks clivewil. I found one at Altair, which was only about 40ly away. :) I had to leave the game for a bit to take care of some '"honey do's" this morning, but I will buy it later today (I'm docked at Solo Orbiter at Altair and saw one in the shipyard).

I *really* appreciate you confirming that they are available at LFT 926! :D

This group is awesome, I appreciate everyone's input! 8-)

Update..... I bought the T-7 from Altair yesterday, and after making a couple of stops, have her outfitted like this. I'm still looking for 5A thrusters.

It's taken me a few runs to get the feel of it, but it's not bad for a large transport ship IMO. It handles like a slug, which is what I expected. When I want fast and maneuverable, I'll jump in my Vulture. :D

I bounced off the top of the mail slot once leaving a station, and have found that you need to be very low in the slot to clear easily. I mean.... it looks like you're going to scrape the bottom, but I have yet to run low enough in the slot to actually hit.

I didn't realize that I now need a large landing pad. :( Sad, sad day. Most of my recent trade runs included an outpost.

But.... :) .... I have found some great new trade runs only using stations, that with my 214 ton cargo space, are working out quite well. 8-)

I spent about 2 hours testing a few runs this morning to various stations (and updating trade data along the way), and have found one ..... that at least for now.... makes me $493k every 15 minutes.

Overall, I'm quite happy with the T-7. It does the job that I wanted, and is quite profitable when I don't want to BH in the RES with my Vulture.

Thanks again for all the input, guys! 8-)
