Lol, pretty much. My trick was discovering I can bind a key to zero throttle. After that I instantly became cocky with my landings :)

Yeah I was ok at docking, got the HOTAS and it got way better. And don't even bother with the Autodock, that thing will get you killed so fast or is so slow. The animation of where the brick totally points at the landing pad and goes down is kind of the crazy thing the auto-docking computer will do, zoom up or down, its kind of scary funny!

Funny. :)

I bet there are similarities in my first ever E: D docking:

I weirdly didn't have much trouble with the landing. It's the accidentallyskippingthetraveltutorial that got me. Took me a good 15 minutes of accidentally flying backwards and forwards and dropping my cargo scoop before I realized which god damned button it was to activate the frame shift drive. I blame not realizing the toggle switches were different when going up and down on my new HOTAS.

I was surprisingly good at docking, didn't have to much trouble. Only problem I have is with the Type-#s and not stopping in time after flying a more agile ship. ^_^

Yes, I had the problem when I moved from a Cobra to an Asp. The stopping distance is a little longer in the Asp.
