Moved back to my home system for a couple of reasons, firstly I was not getting the decent ship spawns despite several revisits there and also as I am not friendly with the system all ships show as unfriendly/unknown so i was having to be super careful engaging so as not to shoot system authority vessels.
Ahh good to be back in familiar territory once again.
The only downside is that the rings orbit the planet at really high speed, so a daytime and nighttime are about an hour and a half each. It is rather dark when the sun is blocked, but I just fly slowly or above/below the asteroid belt. In areas that are pitch black (facing the planet during night), fly above the asteroid field and when entering, fly like you would when driving in a really bad storm, SLOW; 0 pips to engines, and slow maneuvers
Meh, LP 547-159 has a really crap selection of parts and weapons. It becomes annoying to travel nearly a WHOLE ls to get back to the station.
For an all-day RES that is close to a well-equipped station, check out LTT 4961. I think you will find it a lot easier. It does take awhile to get used to bounty hunting in the dark; but as long as you fly slow and with the lights on you will be fine.
Any RES will have good spawning or bad spawning; it's all RNG; Random! I always brute-force my way to get good spawning. I simply keep popping back in from SC to the same RES; and after about 1-5 times, I'll be able to get loads of larger ships to spawn the whole time I stay.
edit: Since asteroids in the dark is rather dangerous, I will now label RES' that will have poor visibility. If I miss any RES' please let me know!
edit 2: I really like night fighting at RES' and will be listening to this while killing in the dark:
