Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

So what weapon do you prefer to use? Gimbal'ed? Turret? Cannon? Beam? Rail? Missiles?

I'm currently using a Beam and Cannon, both Gimbal'ed, to take out shield and do some major hull damage once the shields are down. Not had a real chance to try other combo's.

Definitely gimballed - MCs and burst lasers. Would love it if there were large gimballed MCs for my clipper

I've been doing a bit of RES farming lately, though, and using turreted beams lets me take out anacondas in my viper without much fuss - I can concentrate on the flying while the guns do the rest. Takes about 10-15mins per ship, depending on their level.

Flying a vulture with 1 fixed beam, 1 fixed cannon.

Fixed beam is really cool when you get a sustained hit. Cannon is pretty rewarding but TBH I'd prefer a size 3 multicannon.

On my Viper: 2 fixed Beams and 2 gimballed Multis.
On my Asp: 4 small gimballed Burst and 2 medium gimballed Multis.

Laser pew pew for stripping shields and small ships hulls, Multis for shooting powerplants on larger prey.

2x class 3 gimballed beams. devastating.

Flying with a mouse and keyboard atm. Basically limited to gimballed lasers and multicannons.

I do love railguns though. Too bad I can't aim at the smaller fighters well enough to use them. One day I shall have an X52 setup. But first, bills! -_-

Depends on the ship, fixed beams and multis on the Viper, gimballed beams and multis on the Asp, gimballed beams on the Vulture (the spread was too wide to hit small craft and I just seemed to make more things explode quickly with gimballs).

For my Freagle, 1 Gimballed Burst on top and 2 Cannons under the wings are just fine. For such a small craft that combo delivers quite a punch, and asks for some piloting skill to hit with the slower shells which is exactly what I want. And if they do, they mess up Subsystems nicely. Currently doing RES farming with that to buy my Vulture a FSD that can take her out of her home system
Main downside is the low amount of ammo.

For the Cobra that I used to farm to get funding for my Vulture, I was VERY pleased with 2 G1 Pulse and 2 G2 MCs. Unshielded targets of any size get chewed away like nothing.

Now, for my Vulture, I try the famous 2 G3 Pulse loadout. Would love to try something big like Rails or Plasma but I fear that then I would have to shut down everything from drives to life support to get enough energy ...

Same set up for me in my Cobra. Tried others but found this was simple and effective for me.
