Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Another year and I'm trying to get back into the game again. I was 39k ly away from Azreal on the way to the other side of the galaxy but it just got so boring, so one self-destruct later I'm now on the way back from Colonia.

Is there a good place to go to understand what to focus on now and where to contribute? I could read all of the news articles but how far back to start?

I've been to Colonia and back to the Bubble, also via de self destruct route. At this moment however I'm back in Colonia, this time via a fleet carrier (not my own). Lazy? Yes lazy, but it was a new experience for me.
I'm trying to make some more credits in Colonia. After that I will surely come back to the Bubble.
