Cooperative play question

Hello,

Not having many friends who play ED, I appreciate the Mobius group very much ;)

I was wondering, is it possible (given the current mechanics of the game) to work together with another commander on the same Kill mission (i.e. two players in the same instance, killing the same NPC Elite Anaconda?). Obviously you can't share the bounty, so I suppose you just have to take turns on getting the missions in the first place? If you follow a mate in SC and he drops into a USS, can you follow him into normal space using the wake scanner?

Has anyone managed it yet, and does anyone fancy having a go at some point?

A further question... is this what the 'Wings' feature I keep reading about is supposed to do? Or something else? While I'm overjoyed that its coming, I'm really not familiar with what that term actually means...

Cmdr de Carabas and I have discussed cooperative hunting to see how this works but so far we've been unable to meet up in game.

We even got to the point of discussing loadouts and whether one of us would have a Cobra full of lasers and the other a Cobra full of cannons. One to take out the shields and one to take out the hull.

I'm sure one day we'll manage to try it out.

Hmm, I was afraid that might be the case; I read a lot about the MP stuff being a bit flaky (to say the least) but I haven't really tried it for myself.

I also read about turning off UPNP and setting up a proper port forward to the gaming machine might help, but yet to try that. I may have already friended you in game, but feel free to ping me if you want to have another go, I hope to get on later this evening; or should I head to TS (never done that either!)?

In Beta, I had some success creating a specific private group with two or three people (I think that Mobius is so big now that you've got almost as much chance of getting paired up with specific people as in Open...). Ahh.. is THIS what wings will help with? (i.e. you can still play in a massive private group but hook up with specific people in that group?)

Cheers

We tried it once with Wolf. He collected a bunch of assassination missions and we went hunting together. We found an Anaconda who was the target of one of these missions, and we both attacked him. Then, when he was about to die, Wolf stopped firing and I got the killing shots. The idea was to see if Wolf would get the mission success, but he didn't and I only got the bounty.

However this was before the change they implemented recently that makes you get the bounty even if you don't deliver the killing shots, as long as you shot in the last 10 seconds. Dunno if that change applies to assassination missions, though.

I guess this will be looked at again when they implement wings.

Haven't they also said that the new Beta (which won't have Wings), has some new co-operative play features? This may include Bounty Sharing or Inter Player trading?

Should be getting rolled out soon as they want us to test in the first week of February.

I'm not too worried about the bounty sharing. As long as I get the money and Cmdr de Carabas doesn't everything is good :)

There's a couple of posts by Kitiara that include a video of her doing this as a team with another players:

1.06 has certainly made it easier. Here's Barking Mad in his nice Chrome paint job as we started hunting together at the nav point in Codorain. It's getting there.

I'm a bit disappointed that your scanner shows me as "Harmless", since my combat rating is actually "Expert" if I recall correctly.

Ex as in "has been" and spurt as in "drip under pressure"?
