Getting Baron Rank

Postby Raze » Mon Mar 30, 2015 3:55 am

Anyone else have issues with this? I skyrocketed to Lord in like 2 days but have been stalled there just short of Baron for 3 days now... I've done about 50 different mission for Empire factions of all types and still no Naval Progression to Baron :(

Not a HUGE deal as I maybe have 9M and can't afford a Clipper anyways but I'd like to at least get the rank so I can go back to RES farming and such to actually MAKE money lol

nope, i managed to rise 2 ranks to Baron in one night.

part or all of the solution was to focus purely on one Imperial faction's missions, then i moved to another system and did the same thing there for another Imperial faction, then moved once again (only because neither of the first two systems sold Impure Clappers)

e.g. in one system there was about 3 sub-factions allied with the Empire, but i ignored all missions except those for Emperor's Pride, and same deal in the next system

Yea I give up for now, spent 6 straight hours today doing missions for Imperial factions in and around Summerland and I got fuck all except slightly poorer by crashing into the mail slot a few times and blowing up from not paying attention because I was so god damn bored from doing pointless missions for basically 0 credits lol

I'm just gonna find a nice Hightech/RES system around Imperial space and spend a few days BHing then maybe come back and check, can't take this RNG crap anymore lol

Try to go and run missions in system you've never been before (or rarely).

Try this - go to an Empire system with a RES and one with a main faction you are not allied with - hunt RES and turn in the bounties, you will gain rep and make money :)

From what I understand the secret to gaining Rank is to get to allied status with as many sub factions as possible, doing missions for a faction you are allied with already won't boost your Empire status much to kick the rng into action.

It did take some time for me to get from Lord to Baron, but not as bad as you describe.

What I did was to run a trade route in my 120t cargo fitted Asp between 2 empire ports, checking and picking up the rep gain missions that popped up from time to time, but only the ones for the commanding faction of the port. Especially the charity missions (hand with + above it) giving rep as mission reward. And that was all I did. It could take some rounds of trade between each time I got one of them. I was greeted as respected ally at both systems pretty quickly.

I pretty much reached Baron status right after I could afford the Clipper with a couple of essential upgrades, so I suppose I got lucky.

Now it only the small task of collecting another 13.5 million credits just to buy the damn thing, nevermind outfitting it properly lol

i wish the same techniques i used for reaching Baron would also work for my Fed rank.

i'm stuck on 'Post Commander' - it makes me sound like a moderator on Facebook :(

---> ok, it seems that is the highest Fed rank. i was expecting something more like General or Admiral...
