Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hello,

I know mining has been a less then great feature in the game, but with the current update featuring drones and possibly more, is anyone considering a mining career, or at least dabble in it if it seems profitable?

I would love to be able to mine at some point, hoping they at least release a ship that's more geared toward the play style. Just isn't really worth the effort at the moment and it seems RES points are so full of pirates and bounty hunters you are running more than mining. But looking forward to the update.

I did have a bit of a go at it but found it a bit tedious with the constant scooping stuff up. If they make it a bit more user friendly will certainly have another go

I picked up some 100 cargo from a good friend recently.
That's when I decided to give up to even try mining xD

my current mining stats are something like: tonnes mined - 1, credits earned - 238
obviously i didn't get very far BUT when the new drones appear i'll fit out a ship and give it another try.

the idea of mining does appeal, but not the current method

Ive tried mining but it was too much of a pain in the ass to keep chasing after little pebbles.

But give me some mining drones and ill be mining the flying furk out of everything.
Seriously, those drones are going to be a game changer for a lot of people.
I'd retrofit my old T6 to start shoveling minerals, 10 bin refinery and everything.

That is to say though, provided the drones are reusable!
Because I seem to have the impression they said the drones will be disposable just like limpets.
One time use only.. That might ruin the profit from mining significantly.

Yeah those drones are going to be one time use, so even if they are cheap it's like your ammo for mineral collection... or you could save the credits and do it the old fashion way, which I rely don't get 1,100 years into the future!

Well, they say they'll be one time use if they're targeted at something, but if they're not targeted at anything, they'll catch everything they can until they die. If they could grab 20 chunks before that happens, that wouldn't be too bad.

I will give it a try once they put in the drones. I have watched a couple youtube vids and it looks painful to mine.

That actually sounds a bit more tolerable, though I could see this "grab whatever" mode being a huge troll tool, too. Fly around in a RES, release the hounds and watch all the NPCs bitch and moan when they get their nuggets jacked by your little shitflies.

i did a little mining in an adder and a cobra.
when 1.3 hits i'll outfit my anaconda and try it out again for sure.
