Exploring with cargo

Postby smartroad » Thu Oct 05, 2017 5:07 pm

Is it worth doing? I ask as I am setting up a second account which I will be using to go off and explore while Lase remains in the bubble. My second account has enough money to get something like an Asp Scout (for range) or another Cobra (because this CMDR loves Cobra's!). However in both instances, I can set them up as full planetary explorers but am unable to have any cargo.

This CMDR is bored with doing missions and CG's and just wants to get out there, is there any real need to carry cargo when out in the black?

AFM's dont require cargo, neither does synthesis. Cobra with a buggy and AFM's would still manage a decent range if Engineered. Without Engineers, well, a little low. The DBX has a better view and range but is a little tighter on space. Idealy, an ASPX would be best. Cmdr. A-Team is still in a Cobra but has about 30 million in the bank to get something else and I think an AspX is the best choice. But keeping the Cobra.

Short of bring back stuff you may find, I can't think of any reason to have cargo capacity whilst exploring at the moment. Whether this changes in the future (3.0?) we see, but unless you intend to be out into 2018 in case that happens, I personally wouldn't bother.

You still owe me a Corvette Rebuy Dawg.... I Don't Forget. That being said, it was a Corvette, meh. Not like it was my Cobra. THAT would get you Killed On Site for like Forever. :P

The only reason to carry a cargo rack into the black is the new repair limpet controller because you cannot synthesize limpets for it without a cargo rack. If you can stand the longer scoop time, the DBX is a solid low-money choice and the best unmodded jumper in the game since its buff. An AspX with a 6C scoop is a little more expensive, but also doable.
