Bug or alien influences?

Whilst travelling out in the galaxy I've seen many different planets - but I've never come across one where the entire planets surface seems odd or symmetrical in any way. Until now.

Any thoughts?

I'm going to suggest (rather boringly) that it's the stellar forge having a funny 5 minutes

Obvuisly an alien race testing it's orbital asteroid, bombardment techniques, and fine tuning their trajectory algorithms.
