Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

After several months of playing and repeated attempts - I have made it to Sag A!!!!!!

I would post a picture but I don't know how to hide it behind a "Spoiler" tag, and I don't want to spoil the view for those who haven't been there.

Thought I was going to die there. I scanned the black hole and saw a marker called the centre. Raced toward it and got too close to the black hole. The temperature was rising dangerously and in my panic I couldn't get away. Managed to pull away with some damage to my ship's hull (down to 67% ) I think I scanned the centre marker.

Now the long journey back to Sol.

Congrats. We'll have a psychologist on standby when you get back for the space sickness...

If you are already at 67% hull, my recommendation is to make the hop to Jaques station for repairs and data selling before continuing on to Sol. The Colonia Core Circuit Expedition will be arriving at Sag A* on November 25th if you want some company for that trip. Check the thread for details.

Well, I have made it back to Sol, and I have to say, it was a bit of an anti-climax.

I made 25 million in exploration data, but I was expecting more than that. I was also expecting a lot more exploration data to be sold. I am not convinced the program remembered all my trips. I once heard that some people lost lots of data when a big update to the game occurred. I wonder if I lost loads on the Guardians update.

I also got promoted to Ranger for exploration, and again was expecting something higher than that. I also became an ally to Mother Gaia.

I scanned almost every planet and sun in every system on the way there, but just long range scanner blasted everything on the way back.

Was I expecting too much?

If you scanned everything including all those tiny moons, you should have gotten a lot more than 25 million out of such a trip.

For comparison: The first part of GNE from the bubble to Jaques was about 34,000 LY or 1050 jumps of "scan almost everything", plus another 30,000 LY just honking for an emergency detour. Total payout: ~60 million including first discovery bonuses.

All the scan data was collected during 2.1, but I deliberately only sold it after 2.2 had dropped.

A honk-only loop bubble->Jaques->bubble during the CGs resulted in a payout of 12-15 million, depending on the exact route.

I've been waiting on 2.2 with module storage, before engineering up a few more, lower-sized/spec'd components, before heading out in my Anaconda. I'll likely do the Colonia route, and then head towards the core. Can't wait to see it in VR!
