Heads-up for Jaques visitors

Postby HAMM3R » Mon Jul 04, 2016 7:27 pm

Just remembered this while talking on the Discord channel so I thought I'd make a little heads-up post for those about to go visit Jaques Station. And anyone else for that matter who might be scooting about around there.

There's a massive layer (red area on the map) of L-/T-/Y-dwarves looming between -20 and -40 LYs below the galactic plane. Now I don't know where the "official" route goes exactly and if it actually remains below that at all times but in case you come from other directions or whatever, you might want to steer clear of this area.

I wandered there myself on my way to Sag A* and had some serious fuel issues before I thought about investigating why scoopable stars were so hard to come by

Looks a little sumptin' like this

Scooping fuel is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First check the target is hot enough,
then approach slowly. Once close enough, pull out your scoop and fill her up. After you're done just
gently pull away, turn around and leave.

the route i published (as far as WP 16) kept fairly central so managed to avoid the void ;)

Indeed, seems to be more straight forward approach. Chances are if you're following that path you'll miss the dwarf area.
