Advanced Scanning vs. System map

Postby Cannibal Holiday » Sun Jan 24, 2016 9:29 pm

So I've started my first foray out into the black. I've gone around honking systems in the bubble before, but now I've got the advanced scanner.

I dropped into a system where I honked 31 objects but only 16 show up on the system map.
Last night I found one with 51 objects and only 24 showed up on the map.

Does it include objects in an asteroid belt? Or do you have to physically go out and find those objects which don't appear in the map?
I know that's the case if you don't have the honking range, but thought the advanced scanner just reveals everything.

Please advise.
Cannibal out :)

Asteroid belts don't pay anything either - you can either scan it and get your name on the belt or just move on to the next celestial body

Ideally you want a detailed surface scanner too...

Thanks :)

Yeah. I've got the surface scanner as well.
I've found a few systems just outside the bubble where the second star hadn't been "found" yet, so that was nice.
Wasted some time discovering some rocky ice planets too. I know they're not worth much, but it's cool to get my name on something that close to the bubble just because someone didn't want to travel to the second star in a system for them :D

Should show everything. I set the filter in my nav panel to exclude asteroid belts, and I think it excludes those from scan data as well, when you do that. See if you have something filtered out?

Check your filters in the #1 panel make sure you are showing all the goodies that you want to see and hide the junk like asteroid fields.

Hiding planets is also handy after you have scanned them all especially in systems where you might be bounty hunting or cruising for targets to interdict. When I am out and about in a system I hide everything except Nav Points, suns, stations and POIs

Hello,

How do I find a base on an unexplored planet?

You explore the planet.
