Safely approaching black holes

Postby dapprman » Sun Jul 26, 2020 10:27 pm

(I might post this question on our FB group page as well as I'll hopefully need to know tomorrow/Tuesday).

On my trip to Colonia along the Colonia Connection Highway (hitting every stop along the way) I will next land at Sacaqawea Space Port at Skaudai CH-B d14-34. Now this is close to ‘The Collection of Worlds’ (Skaude AA-A H294) and so I'm thinking of heading there afterwards (as I will be able to dump exploration data and gain Colonia influence at the space port first and no risk losing it). Thing is there is not only a neutron star, but for those unawares, two black holes. The neutron star I'm fine with (keep far away and make suitable ooh and ahh noises), but the black holes - how close can I safely get ?

Hey I'm Thor -
People call me Bob.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

It's been a while ( a few years) but 'back in the day' I used to take my ASP inside black holes. It's a pretty cool experience in the game.

Heads up though, it creates some significant heat when you jump out of them. Nothing that heatsinks can't handle though.
