Smuggler idea

Postby NIVEUS » Mon Jan 15, 2018 7:17 pm

I was wondering on the viability of putting the biggest sheild you can have on a ship.

Gunning it passed the scanners hitting the back wall of the base bringing your speed to 0 and letting the auto dock take over.

err, no. If you were going full pelt you'd either go boom, or do significant damage, boosting into the back of the station is one of the classic noob mistakes.

Frankly there is no point either, simple fit heat sinks, when you see/hear the ship scan detected warning simply fire off a heat sink and hey presto the scan gets cancelled.

Fair enough but as I am a noob it makes sense to me so I still want to try it once just to see if it's doable.

The heat sink tip is nice thanks. does that work for any scan or just station scans

It's not the station that scans you, it's the authority ships patrolling the entrance, yes it works with all scans, so you can also use it when authority ships interdict you if you are carrying dodgy passengers.

I'd be more worried about destroying another ship on the way in. Speeding + ship destruction = murder = insta-rebuy.

Activating silent running will buy you extra time which is usually enough if you don't dawdle.

I thought the heat sink mechanics only stop scans if the ship doing the scanning is beyond a certain range?
If the authority ship is within a certain range, lowering your heat sig does not work?

In my experience it stops the current scan but they may start another scan a few seconds later. If you pop a heat sink as well, they might not rescan you at all.
