Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hello everyone! I can see I'm a bit on the young side for a lot of people here (I'm 17, turning 18 this year), but I hope that's not an issue. :') I'm here for the same kind of reasons as the rest of you.

I don't think I've been confirmed yet, so this post is a bit premature. Fingers crossed.

I've played E:D before, although not much at all — but I'm looking to get back into it again. I'm not experienced in these types of games in the slightest (most information flies right over my head), although I am genuinely interested in getting into this game more. The difficulty is somehow alluring to me, lol. :)

At the moment, I'm just running a lot of courier/delivery missions (I don't feel confident in doing much else), and haven't gotten very far. Just trying to adjust into the game as best I can; I don't have any particular goals right now. I've been too afraid to hop into Open as I was scared off by hearing about griefers preying on newbies in the starting areas, so I've been stuck in Solo for a while.

PvP hardly appeals to me (I couldn't get past the first combat training mission), so I'm highly interested in a PvE-only group.
Also, RP! Once I get settled in more, I'd love to try and dip my toes in some of the RP side of the community (although I'm unfamiliar with RPing in-game, I'm absolutely open and interested in the experience!)

I have no friends who play E:D, so I'm hoping to make some. :) Just please bear with me — I can be slow with remembering information (especially when it comes to science / sci-fi things). This game is just a bit overwhelming sometimes.
There are a lot of terms/concepts I don't understand just yet.

I'm located on the east coast of the USA (North Carolina). No particular play schedule — I have a lot of free time, but I also play a lot of other games.
I also just use a simple KB+M set-up, although I have an Xbox controller I can use. HOTAS is a bit out of my price-range right now. :')
