Hello all, and thanks for having me.
I'm a 35yo male originally from Arizona, currently in South Carolina, east coast US. I am currently working 2nd shift, don't know for how long, but will be looking forward to the days I get to have a normal life again.
I've been playing Elite Dangerous since February, and loving it. At first, I was just happy floating around in supercruise listening to the in-game music. I've always loved space and astronomy even though I'm fairly ignorant about most of its mechanics compared to some of the astronomy buffs out there. It's just beautiful, and reminds us that there's so much beyond our own back yard, that space is big, and there ought to be enough room out there for breathing room (even though it's a vacuum, so forgive the pun).
Recently I had a player from the CODE interdict me several times over even though I gave him the slip, so as to say, I didn't want to engage in his piracy RP gaming style, and would neither drop my mission-specific cargo, nor would I allow myself to lose a 14.6m CR rebuy on a python to his boot upon the very throat of my own progress. I later got into my clipper to give him a fight, win or lose, only to find an entire gang of pirates upset that they didn't get me (or my cargo) earlier.
I have always leaned more toward the side of cooperation rather than "versus" in multiplayer games, in the spirit of friendships, and personally frown upon those who seek explicit player interactions in Elite, and ignore the environment. A lot of the time, computer AI is harder to deal with, so I have to think PVP'ers generally seek to get their kicks making the lives of other players miserable. This is probably not the case, there are real gentlemen out there who are considerate PVP players, who hold themselves to criteria for engagement, but the loudest, squeakiest wheels get the most attention, I'm afraid.
I believe there is a time and place for PVP, and camping an engineering base is not one of them. I'm looking to make some friends and operate cooperatively in-game, and maybe move some BGS needles around. And that's why I'm here.
