Hello Commanders!

My name in game and here is Cmdr Random Dognut - in the past some people have actually taken offence at that name so to be clear its a very old profile name now that I took when my young step son found a left over doughnut and proudly displayed the 'Random Dognut' (bless him).

I play on Xbox because my only PC is actually just a small net book. I have only played on solo because my experiences of xbox multiplayer have often been frustrating and I can imagine jarring immersion breaking moments from some of the characters I have come across before. When I stumbled across this PvE group I realised the game can only get better! :D

This is also the first forum I have ever joined so im totally newbie about posting etc.. - lots of reading to do before I start contributing in earnest.

I have a few general questions / concerns that Im sure are answered elsewhere but would appreciate help with now if possible. Having never played open / group I'm nervous that I might not recognise a player and shoot at them. Is there any quick and obvious way to identify if a ship is a player?

The other concern I have is that I have invested in a hotas and adapter to (theoretically) use on my xbox but see in the documentation that this adapter is used primarily to cheat. I don't think this is really cheating because PC users can naturally make use of hotas. But without natural support in game or by Microsoft I'm nervous I might get suddenly banned. Does anyone know if it is ok to play this way?

Finally just a little bit about me, I'm married with 4 kids ranging from 3 yrs to 24 including step children. My wife is disabled to the point that I have now had to quit work to look after her. I have always loved games and elite 2 has always been one of my all time favourites so I was overjoyed when Dangerous appeared on the Xbox early access :D

I am just heading to Colonia having recently visited Sagittarius A and hope to have scanned enough for Elite exploration rank - fingers crossed!

I hope to meet some of you back in the bubble :D

Welcome CMDR

You came to the right place to be. Here you will find other CMDRs that will help and share knowledge.

Take care and see you in the black.

Greetings and welcome to Mobius, Commander Random Dognut.

I don't think that using a HOTAS on an xbox would be considered cheating, but hopefully someone more xbox savy will chime in here with better intel.

Human players will show up on your sensors with a hollow icon (square if hard points retracted, triangle if deployed). You'll also see "CMDR" at the beginning of their name. Here's an example of many commanders mixed in with some NPC's on my sensors at a recent Community Goal:

Now on to the standard "new member" info kit.....

Feel free to add your name to one of our 'In game friends lists'

In game friends list for PC
Xbox EU and Xbox US

and check out our TeamSpeak servers or Discord (voice and text chat) servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders.

Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already Image.

On top of all of that, we also have a Facebook group and Twitter feed.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks to help new players acclimatize to the game while having fun.

Finally, if you are interested in being involved, go here to see information about our player group faction, the Order of Mobius (based at Rafferty's Mobius station in the Azrael system). We have our own Order of Mobius Twitter feed.

I think MS has recently announced that they will be supporting HOTAS soon. Its stupid that it doesn't; it must only be a disabled driver as its still Windows 10

Welcome o/
