Howdy CMDRs!
Found myself here via the E:D and E:D Xbox One subreddits. It's pretty nice to see that there is a community of ED players who prefer to play the game without it always ending in someone's ship being blown up, as I do.
I've been a big fan of space games for a long time, since I could play Freelancer back on my oldest PC. I picked Elite up on the Xbox a while back, but the learning curve was vertical and back then, the menus were pretty confusing. It was fun to play but making any progress back then felt pretty complicated. I bought Horizons a few weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the changes made since I last played; outfitting was simplified, missions and rep were easy to see. For the first time, I ventured beyond the system I started in and made money...in Solo.
Don't get me wrong; to a degree, PvP has its place in this game like in several others. Unfortunately, I find these days that there's a fine line between being a legitimate pirate and being a griefing troll, and both groups often use the "we can play how we want" argument to shield themselves from any backlash, legitimate or otherwise. Sadly, both groups also seem to fail to grasp that that cuts both ways when it comes to players uninterested in PvP.
Thus, I find myself here. I've played in Solo since I had the game, on account of one death can set you back hours - or even days - and i'd rather that death be of my own making, but it'd be nice to play and occasionally see someone out in the black without arming my weapons as a precaution.
Oh-Seven, CMDRs.
