Hi all, played Elite back in the 80's both on the BBC mod B and the ZXSpectrum as youngster and loved it dearly, been a gamer for a long time but recently got the urge to give elite dangerous a go. Not a massive fan of PVP, much prefer playing against the actual game.
getting used to a HOTAS is somewhat taxing though :D

Hi All

Played Elite in it's various forms through the years. Eagerly signed up and paid for the Elite Dangerous Beta way back in 2014. Played it a little bit way back then, but was a little disappointed with how it turned out and didn't play anymore.

After getting a HTC Vive setup, and was looking for a "killer VR app". More or less stumbled across an Elite Dangerous YouTube video and remembered that I had purchased a lifetime update pass. The immersion in VR is really nice, have been blown away ever since.

Read a lot about the somewhat toxic nature of the PvP area. Even experienced it in a 10 minute dabble. Had no cargo and was just tooling around enjoying the view when someone decided that I was a target. Managed to escape with only singed tail feathers. Since then have limited myself to solo play.

Focusing on casual exploration have manged to reach Elite status for exploration. Just starting to dip my toes into some serious trips and maybe thinking about and expedition or two.

Fly safe commanders

Howdy folks,

I got Elite about couple of weeks ago.
I have played about 10-15 hours at most.  I think 2 hours so far has been just me looking at the control options page for my Keyboard and Mouse.

A friend in Elder Scrolls Online talked about this game, and I have always liked space, but wasn't going to put in the time it takes to play Eve.  Didn't take the time to look into Star Citizen until I have owned this game.  I am not into PvP.

I stumbled here, looking for info and found a thread.
I will probably write a lot of questions, so be warned.

Hello, all

I'd never really played space or flight sims before, but my son is currently very interested in space stuff. So when I was searching around for things that might appeal to him, I came across this (and Space Engine) and decided to give it a try. We both really enjoy it. PvP combat has never been my strong point in any game so this format really appealed to me. Currently based in Ray Gateway but I will be heading out to various points of interest once I get into some long-range medium ships.

Hi all,

Quicksabre here. My sons (18, Thing 2, and 24, Thing 1) are avid gamers; yes, I raised them right. They noticed that I was tinkering with an old copy of Freelancer to get it running on my gaming laptop. Mercifully, Thing 1 got me Elite Dangerous Horizons as a birthday gift a few weeks back.

I've been a gamer since the 1970's, yes, I'm older than dirt. Played "Rogue" ~dungeon crawl~ on a mainframe at work when I was supposed to be migrating a database from Multics to UNIX for godssake. I also played the entire Wing Commander series, which led me to Privateer and then Freelancer. To me, Elite Dangerous is everything I always wished for those two games.

Nowadays I love modding the Fallout series, Elder Scrolls IV and V, Dying Light, FarCry, etc.

Not a big fan of PKers, but I understand the mentality. My usual modis operandi is to get good at a game and then go hunt whatever PKers that may exist (still doing that in Runescape since the boys were little and we played that together). Eventually I'll be a bounty hunter in Elite Dangerous open, I suppose.

IRL my career was IT, and my main 'hobby' is teaching martial arts ~ I've been teaching an eclectic karate style for 30+ years in Detroit, Michigan, where I grew up and still live.

Hi,
I'm Cmdr Obilan, french commander.

I love trading without weapons and help others whith bringing food, medicines and so on.
With 250 hours of game, I'm a newbee.
I'm really in love with this game, spending hours to prepare trading route not only for money but for beauty to.
I'm playing in VR (HP windows mixed reality) 25% and normal for 75%
VR and hotas are perfect to really be IN the galaxy.

I hate grinker and agressive people. That's why I decide to be in this group. I hope you invite me soon in game.

I can't wait to meet other fine commander sharing the same way of playing.

Fly safe...

Greetings and welcome Cmdr Obilan,

I recently had a weird experience, where I noticed that bringing virtual medicine to virtual sick people actually made me feel like a better person in real life :D

And yeah, the only problem with VR and HOTAS is: You can´t really go back to playing without it.
