Bounty Hunter not-so-extraordinaire

At least, not since the docking incident that sent me back to a sidewinder two days ago.
Anyway, "Victory through Superior Firepower" is a quote I hold dear. From the warzones of Battlefield 3 to the battles in MMOs, if it can dish out damage and receive even more than that, I'm probably doing it. Tanks, Bruisers, doesn't bother me. Not exactly a fan of speed.
Anyway, new to ED and nice to meet you all.

Welcome to the group and the forum, Commander!
Unlucky about having to revert to a Sidey!

But as they say, "don't fly a ship you cannot afford to lose".
Fly safe and good luck getting back quickly to bounty hunting!

Welcome Commander Parry.
I'm madly curious to know what you were flying before the 'incident.'

Bounty hunting in a newly acquired cobra in an anarchy sector. Racked up about 250k in bounties, pair of Fer De Lances didn't exactly enjoy me warrant scanning 'em for any infractions and as I tried to book it, stray laser shot hit me and took the last 1% of my HP.
That's not even the fun part.
Try exiting the dock, random type 6 literally decides it wants to come into the mail slot at the last second. Tried to dodge, bounced off it and into a wall, instantly killing me. (At this point I'd like to note I lost about 340+k)
At this point, I'm 2k in the hole (literally, had to take out a loan), respawn, try to leave dock, ship sails upward towards a wall and ignores my input to drop altitude (let alone throttle, autopilot wasn't on, don't really know what happened), careen into the dock. Again.
Because I couldn't take out a loan (again, 2k in the hole), I was forced to pick up a sidewinder again. tldr shenanigans for the second 2 incidents, first incident was my fault for getting greedy while my friend (who was in a partially kitted out Python) was busy warping in. Should've been smart and scanned the Vultures.

There's always some inertia or momentum when you stop applying the thrusters. So you have to stop early or counteract by thrusting in the opposite direction. Also, make sure you don't disable rotational correction by mistake. Makes the ship's behavior appear very erratic, in stations.

Nothing like that ever happened to me, but I read today from a Mod on ED's forum that if you logout from inside a station, when you log back in you will be placed *outside* of the station.
I pray that if I ever loose control of my ship like this I'll keep that in mind and have good enough reactivity to be able to logout in time.

Every time I've logged out in a station, I was kept inside unless you meant when you aren't docked.
I don't think I ever had it on in the first place, but it is what it is. Doesn't matter now.

Yes, that's when you log out while you're not docked.

Not sure what you're referring to.

correctional rotation. I don't think I ever saw an option for it in the first place.

It's in the Functions tab of the right panel. And a key can be associated to it. Try it some day, in training, so you can destroy as many Sideys as you want. It's fun!
