Hi,

I'm completely new to this game (but not series), having heard all the annoyances with fully open I decided from the start I'd like to play with a PvE based private group, which lead me here. Need to run some tutorials perhaps first though. Anyway I'll see you guys/gals around the galaxy.

Thanks for the welcome. Surprised I managed a manual dock through the letterbox on my first attempt with a dodgy mouse. Might have to dust off the 360 controller, I think that may be a better choice than kb/mouse.

Imo the controller is better than mouse and keyboard, but this truly shines with a HOTAS setup. and a good entry-level one is the Thrustmaster T Flight X, if you can find them online these days... they have been selling out!

And as someone who never was a big console gamer, IMO, mouse/kb wins out. Buuuut... I've been a PC mouse/kb gamer for... too long. Haha.

It all boils down to personal preference. Me, I can't fathom using my fat sausage thumbs for flight control. LOL

The 360 ctrl is really good, and was what I used when I started this game - well, this iteration. I had an old Saitek Cyborg Gold, but loaned it to my partner who needed something that could be configured for left-handed use. It makes flight and docking pretty simple, but combat less so.

Anyway, since it was birthday time I offered my partner a new stick, and she chose the Saitek V.1, and since I was ordering, got myself a Thrustmaster T Flight HOTAS X which is truly awesome, but useless if you're not predominantly right-handed. Someone really needs to make a HOTAS for lefties.

Anyway, fly safe, and see you out there in the dark, maybe.
