Greetings and Salutations!

Postby Praetor Siderium » Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:21 am

I'm Praetor Siderium and I literally bought the game yesterday. I'll be working on the application over the weekend and I'm looking forward to playing with real people while not having to look over my shoulder constantly.

I played Eve Online for about 11 years and I loved every minute of it, ganking and all, but I don't have time to invest in a game like I used to and want something more casual. As such I don't want to spend an hour working only to lose everything I've accomplished to someone when I'm not interested in getting blown up. I picked up a Quest 3 recently and intend to be playing in VR as much as possible (as long as motion sickness isn't an issue - I've never experienced it before so fingers crossed).

My biggest debate right now is whether I should go HOTAS or HOMAS. I'm worried about investing too much in a setup only to find I don't like it (otherwise I'd probably go HOSAS), so if anyone has any thoughts please share them. Not sure if I should pick up a cheap $30US joystick just to try it out and go forward from there or pick up a T16000M to start with. Either way I'm expecting to have a blast no matter what. o7

Hello there!

Welcome to Mobius. I've tried T16000M but read too many issues about drifting. Seems the potentiometer needs cleaning or replacing and the previous HOTAS (cheaper version) had just the same issues. I've since then learned to fly with a controller. Used a PDP XBox controller first, now using the Turtlebeach Recon controller. From what I've heard from people within Mobius, seems VKB is very good, have a look at https://flightsimcontrols.com/ (I don't have any knowledge with these devices I'm afraid).

Anyway, have fun flying !

"Of course I do. It's 2278."
