My first VR videos.

The HTC Vive has just arrived, so I have tried to make a video of the experience.
The shadowplay video is slightly better than in game, as there is currently an issue with display on the Vive that Frontier are working on, particularly effecting text rendering, but also resolution.
Anyway, it was supposed to be a 'walk' around a landing pad with an Imperial Cutter on it, just looking around.
To be honest it looks like a poor home movie with the camera (my head) moving around a bit randomly while trying to 'fly' the debug cam.
Ambient sounds are that of the station.

Anyway, if you have an interest or really nothing better to do, then have a look...

Can't wait for my HMD to arrive.
According to the latest estimate it might be as far off as July.. :(

I had my pre-order cancelled like many others because of card issues (who would have thought a large purchase would trigger banks fraud systems). And they did not try again, just cancelled the order.
HTC Support re-instated me into the queue where I left it.

Got an order in for the rift instead. And they won't charge the card until they ship.

Time will tell I guess.

Man, I'm looking forward to the Vive so much, mine's shipping in May. I used Paypal so that the money came out straight away. I actually got ED just because it had VR support, about 3 weeks ago I decided it'd be best to learn how to play beforehand and since then I've racked up almost 120 hours & have barely touched any other games.

Awesome! What GFX card are you using?

NVidia GTX 980

The resolution and text readability problem is ED related, other VR apps are fine.
Turning off G-Sync helps a bit, but really waiting for Frontier to fix. And 2.1 has some tweaks for VR users as well.

It is a shame you cant easily record what you actually see through the headset, like the 3D
scanner. Everything really looks up close, like a 1st person perspective. Can look down hatches in the docking bay, around the cockpit, and it really gives an impression of ship scale, when you can look around while flying.

Head tracking works a treat.

theBlu is a really good VR demonstrator, if a little short, but really shows off the potential. A must have download ihmo.

Had my vive for a few days now, Asp cockpit is nearly the same size as my front room, even with chaperone I've managed to walk into things investigating (the Asp seat floats lol), fell over the coffee table amongst other things lol. My room is going to end up empty except for padding.

All in all I'm fecking hooked ( oh and bruised :) )

Fly, walk, play er fall safe folks
