Horizons 2.0 Beta Pics - Spoilers

Postby Darwin » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:23 am

I am seriously going to need to get a better laptop.

It is also a bit embarrasing, landing in front of another CMDR and then not knowing how to launch the SRV, and then move around...

Would help to setup key bindings before you try and drive.

People call me Bob.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

Third one looks awful, where are the buggy shadows?

Nice pictures!

Horizons has been a spoiler for some of us - can't get the connection to download the darn thing :x

Edit: So immediately after posting this, I exited my current game and tried the install - low and behold - it's downloading

I was wondering the same thing. I put it down to my 5yr old laptop being bottom of the new hw specs. While it runs, it does not run well.

Yeah, I sat there too for a few minutes while I figured out how to set up the key bindings. Sadly, the vertical thrusters only seem to work with a button and you can't use an analog joystick, which I'm used to. Haven't figured out what to do about rolls yet. Here are a couple of pics. I have graphics setting on high (not ultra).

Heading to explore a crater. Thrusters seem to be maintaining altitude.

I didn't see any buggy shadows or tracks. Could you imagine keeping persistent tracks on a dusty moon? Anyway, after driving around the settlement for a while I could not find my ship. It wasn't on the scanner or my contacts list. I entered the hanger before deploying the buggy and that was the last time I saw it. I did not dismiss it. Had a system crash when I drove off the edge of a hanger.

It took 5 damn hours to download.

Here are a couple more pics.

Here's a shadow. They only show up at specific angles, but you can sometimes see them while driving.

And here I am looking at a T6 landing on my pad with my ship nowhere in sight and no way to access it. I may have to suicide?

I thought I was stranded too, but under the SRV tab there, there's a 'leave settlement' with a count of how far away you need to be. I went that far away then I had a 'recall ship' option but it took me a little while to work out.

Airless planets with rings are pretty cool.
