Okay, I have to revise my views of the Cutter. It now looks really worth grinding for.
The hardpoints though ... not too much. The Corvettes two 2 Hs are quite tempting.
Anything known about rank restrictions already?

Three times as expensive - before outfitting! You've probably answered this yourself, but larger PP and added 2 medium HP to defend yourself. It can even support a fighter bay. :roll:

Probably better off just boosting and jumping to a nearby system.

Didn't know about the fighter bay (but is fighters part of 1.5?) Then it could possibly serve as a pirate boat, but the cobra still seem like a better idea to me though.

Not all ships will be able to land on planets, so the Keelback may be a T6 variation that can. There are also spaces on sone of the bew ships for a planetary landing suite, not available at the mo.

It's not supported yet, but was mentioned in the shipyard description - along with some ideas of how to use the ship. I think they suggested anti-piracy or convoy escort.

I also see they have an unused dedicated slot for a planetary landing suite that is not supported yet. - Ninja'd.
It's time to give this another go.

Also supposed to be able to carry two smaller ships......Like the cutter.....

Look, if they can get a Corvette and Cutter down on the surface, there is no reason for any other ship to NOT be able to land. If that is the case, it's BS.

I for one, can't wait for Horizons to race through canyons in an Eagle. And as far as what ships in 1.5 I am looking forward to, the Viper is one I want to check out, as I hate the Viper. Maybe this one will be better.

All ships I've looked at - Sidewinder, Python, Clipper, Asp, Type-9 - have a slot for a Planetary Approach Suite, but this may not mean that all have Planetary Landing.

What rank do you have to be to get corvette or cutter?

For rank grinders (The information maybe obsolete, i do not know, because I do this before 1.4 release):

Empire - Go to Tamar and land that big sation there. Start taking charity missions of 3 of station Empire faction. Use log out to main menu trick to regenerate bb-missions. You get your naval succession misson eventually

I got Knight after 104 missions, Lord after 145 missions and Baron after 173 missions

Federation - Go to Tun and land Tun's Wart. Start taking charity missions of 3 of station Empire faction. Use log out to main menu trick to regenerate bb-missions. You get your naval succession misson eventually

I got Ensign after 158 missions and Lieutenant after 251 missions

I believe all ships can land on planets (Sidewinder upwards), the new ships don't bring anything new for planetary landing.
Only the largest ships can carry fighters, which of the older ones haven't been confirmed yet.
The SRV weighs 4 tons, so any ship with 4 tons of spare cargo space can carry the SRV (assuming there isn't some additional module needed for it).
