After my Sag A* run, I promised myself I'd do a quick jump to Canis Majoris and go straight towards Sol so I can make a comparison of these 2 stars... so - without any further ado, here it is. (don't forget to click for full image)

Big is an understatement

P.S. The fuel-scoop turns on at 5,1k Ls

wow! A true Supergiant star. I thought Betelgeuse (Fuel Scoop kicks in at around 2100 ls) was huge when I visited it.

I think there's a problem with Canis Majoris, though. The star is huge, that's a given, but the relative size of the spots and coronal holes and loops is the same as those of Sol, and I think that's wrong.

ED's pretty nicely captured the sizes... but something akin to

...for visual representation would've trumped the current 'most if not all giant and main-sequence stars look more or less the same'.
