A Pilgrims Journey

Postby pixel_ferret » Wed Sep 16, 2015 7:09 am

Hi All,

Thought I'd share my crowning achievement in E:D to date.
Following is a short snibbet of my humble pilgrimage to Sag A*. (I left out images of Sag A* itself in case people don't want to spoilered)
A combination of real life (shudder) getting in the way, a broken joystick (5 weeks downtime) and making my journey longer and longer due to pretty sights, I set out at the end of February and didn't make it back until early August.
For RP purposes, I decided to make it the Journey of a Humble Imperial Baron.
I purchased an Adder, kitted her out for 26 LY jumps, discovery scanners, fuel scoop and nothing else.
No heat sinks or fancy schmancy Field Repair units etc... I wanted there to be a real danger that this pilgrim would never return....
Anyway, enough of me waffling, enjoy! Link to the full IMGUR album here: http://imgur.com/a/xsWPK

And I think I will leave it at that.

Nice pics :)
And certainly no small feat getting there, congrats.

And no need to keep back the pics from sag a*, the internet is flooded with pics and videos already so doubt any one considering going hasn't seen plenty.

Congrats, amazing screenshots you have here, No.4 on your post would probably be my favourite.

Usually i wouldn't bother with an AFMU either but the journey i'm currently on, i got ballsy and flew between two VERY close stars orbiting and hit 160% heat. all in the name of a screenshot that i didn't even get in the end! :p

On my second trip I suddenly decided I was going to play "horizons" for a pic and tried landing on an asteroid 900 ly from the closest station...
first 5% hull damage on my trip hehe.

Amazing screenshot, tor

I'm so glad i'm not the only person to try, and fail, to land on an asteroid, It's all going well until you realise the asteroid is still rotating and you're not!

I really can't wait to get rid of my old laptop and upgrade to get visuals as pretty as the ones in this thread. (Albeit i'm cheaping out on a Pentium G3258 due to budget)

Thanks!
Well I call that as successful as I can expect :)
I got my pic and only lost 5% hull :D

I take my screenshots using alt+F 10. That doubles your native resolution and I think it tweaks graphics settings a little as well.

When I push the buttons I see stars and lines sharpen quite a lot, and the game pauses for a few seconds for a lower spec pc though it could take longer.
I also have to tweak my shadow play recording keys so they don't interfere or that either hijacks the command or sometimes both trigger and crashes everything :P
