Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Are you able to use the Discord overlay in E:D?
Is there any trick to make it work?

The Discord overlay works for me, but it needs some extra TLC. I am running E:D in borderless window mode for CL2 and ED Discovery, and I had to add E:D under settings/games and enable the overlay in general. After that, I have a roughly 50:50 chance if the Discord overlay will attach to the E:D client or to E:D launcher. Sometimes, disabling and enabling the overlay will sort it out. Other times, I have to close the launcher before a disable/enable of the overlay works.

As a reply but also as a general post to help everyone who uses Discord


Having the DISCORD game overlay working while playing a game can be very useful, but.. not all games are supported and even when a game is supported, it can sometimes be a pain.

In case of Elite:Dangerous, it helps running the game in full screen with borderless windows




Make use to enable the game overlay for Elite:Dangerous in Discord
It is possible that next time when you start Discord and/or Elite:Dangerous, you'll have to do this again!
(not sure why.. maybe it's the game, maybe Discord, maybe both..)






And yes, there's also "a master switch" for the Discord overlay, don't forget to turn this on

I've got everything setup like Comet and Cyber said, but I've never been able to get the overlay to work.

Oh well, Alt-Tab works for me.

As noted, the good old "have you tried turning it off and on again" helps: Open discord's options, disable the overlay, enable it again

yep! flipping those (both!) settings a couple of times, helps

and yes.. it's a pain..
maybe it's the game, maybe Discord, maybe both..

I just click around all those settings mentioned with absolutely no logic and most tines it comes on

EDIT: Oh and cussing while doing it seems to help somewhat

Got mine working!

I have to click on E-D at the top of the game activity to turn the overlay to 'on', then cycle the overlay main control off and back to on, then it works.

I needed to move the overlay way over due to the resolution that I run at, and learned that with the lock 'on' if you put your mouse on the little discord icon on the top left corner, you can drag it where you want it.
