Wing tips

Hi all,
Looking for general tips regarding wings, mainly if there is a better way to stick with the other person. I know there are options for nav-lock. Should me and a friend nav-lock each other? I guess the biggest thing that would be nice, if possible, is if one person jumps to super/hyper cruise and drags the other person in and out, including if one of us gets interdicted along the way. Is any of this possible? Thanks

I've actually been killed by nav-lock before.
I was nav-locked with some exporers as we were hunting in a nav beacon, gathering FSD upgrade materials, and I accidentally laid into a clean NPC instead of the NPC that was attacking someone in my wing. The 4 anaconda system authority vessels were not amused, and starting beating the crap out of me.
I got away... only to be sucked back immediately, and then finished off. It was... strange. I haven't found that nav lock pulls you into an instance if anyone else in your wing gets interdicted though. Maybe it's supposed to? I'm not sure.

I'm not sure either but figured there should be a way that if you're in a wing and close by, that if one player is attacked it should be fairly easy to at least drop in and help out.

I haven't really used nav-lock before, but from what I understand, its best to use sparingly and rely more on wing signals/beacons. If its anything combat-related (bounty hunting, CZ's, Nav beacons), keep it off since you may need to high wake out should stuff start hitting the fan.
Cargo escorts seem like a feasible time to use Nav-Lock, as its supposed to pull everyone out of SC if one person is interdicted. If not, then several NPCs have some explaining to do since they drop in 5 seconds after an interdiction. Might be that Schmobius found a bug with wings with the interdictions, then again, I haven't used nav-lock much.
Exploration is a bit of a toss up. You would be able to explore the same systems as your wingmates, but differences in jump ranges may mean that you'll have to take a longer path to that one nebula that you want to explore.

Basically all nav lock does is make it so you follow someone's wakes. The problem is it doesn't work correctly. It will pull you out of supercruise upon entering because it incorrectly sees a wake to follow. It will pull you into FSJ and out of supercruise reliably when near a wake (even if that wake is from interdiction).
What I normally do is turn it on only when I need to quickly follow someone out of supercruise. It will let you drop at speed from further away as long as you can see their wake, even if you didn't have nav lock on before, though you do have to have been in system and reasonably near by during the wave shift generation. I then turn it right back off to avoid glitching out.

Ok thanks. Will have to play around with it.
