I have to use all those tricks just to keep the thing flying relatively normally in a Cutter.
I've found if I boost-turn to align to a nav target I want to jump to, it can take about 20 seconds for the ship to regain a normal flight path, even though it looks for all the world like it is flying straight... the only giveaway is the little star-like streaks. I have to do another boost pointed straight to avoid twiddling my thumbs while the computer tells me to align to my frameshift target. I have to pull a maneuver similar to what he suggests with circling an asteroid while always facing it to align to the mailslot if I drop down at an angle, and often do so in FA-Off, so I have plenty of time to request docking without losing time maneuvering. (The ship keeps going) I then have to give full opposite thrust for a few seconds to level out.
Now, if he has tips for maintaining dominant position in a large ship, that would be interesting. I almost always have the better shields, so I usually adopt the "Come at me, bro!" stance in combat.
